Lily looked to Lexi after completing her dare, kissing a random stranger, on the train to the Awakening Ball. “Lexi, do you want truth or Dare?”
“I–”
“And spoilers if you pick dare I’m definitely making you kiss someone.”
Lexi felt like that was a challenge from Lily, and she chose to accept it. “If that’s the case, I guess I pick…dare.”
“Ha!” Lily exclaimed. That means you have to kiss someone on this train that you do know…
“Lil…” She looked between Adrian, Kamilah, and Lily. Lily was her best friend and as great as she was, kissing her would feel weird. Kamilah was hot, but also intimidating. Adrian was the obvious answer. She had already kissed him, and much more. “I’ll kiss Adrian.”
Lexi climbed onto Adrian’s lap because why not make a big show of it? She bet Lily wasn’t expecting her to be so bold, but when in the company of vampires…
“Why, hello,” Adrian said with a grin.
Lexi cupped his face and gave him a slow, smoldering kiss that built with intensity until it felt like she and Adrian were the only two people in the train car. When she finally came up for air, Lily applauded and Kamilah just shook her head.
“Anyone else feelin’ a little warm in here?” Lily asked rhetorically.
“You dared me to do it Lil. I had to make it convincing…but if you all will excuse me, I think I’m going to use the restroom now before we reach our destination,” Lexi said as she got up and walked to the bathroom at the far end of the train car.
Lexi opened the door and started to walk in, when out of the corner of her eye, she saw a male figure emerge from the dark corner of train car. Before she knew what was happening, she was being pulled into the bathroom with the door closed behind her. She tried to scream but her mouth was covered. The man turned her around, and she was shocked to see that it was Jax looking back at her.
“Shh, It’s okay. It’s just me.” He said as he uncovered her mouth and pulled her into his chest, stroking her hair to comfort her.
“As happy as I am to see you, was it really necessary to scare the shit out of me, Jax?”
“I’m sorry Lexi. I just couldn’t risk anyone seeing me. It’s dangerous for me to be here, but I had to…to make sure you stay safe.”
“I do have two very powerful vampires with me, plus my newly turned best friend who would do anything to protect me. Not to mention I’m pretty good at holding my own.”
“I know…I don’t know why, but I feel this pull…this need to protect you.”
“You know,” Lexi said with a playful smile, “If you weren’t so cute, I might just think you were a creepy stalker guy.”
Jax laughed. “Just cute? Not devastatingly handsome?”
“Lexi looped her hand around his waist and pulled him close to her, not breaking eye contact. “No not just cute…handsome, funny, smart, hot, sexy…do you need me to go on?”
Jax eyes swept over Lexi’s face and then focused in on her lips. “I wouldn’t mind if you dared me to kiss you now.”
Lexi pulled away, suddenly realizing that Jax had probably witnessed the whole scene with her kissing Adrian. “Oh, I’m sorry that you saw that.”
Jax brought her close again and tilted her chin up with his finger so that her eyes met his again. “Hey, it’s okay. You don’t belong to me.”
I would, if you asked me to, she wanted to say but felt it was too soon. What she had with Adrian was good, but it just didn’t compare to the intensity of her feelings for Jax. “Alright then, I dare you to kiss me.”
In an instant, Jax lifted Lexi by her thighs and set her on the countertop, settling between her legs. He twisted his hands in her hair and guided her face to his, parting her lips gently with his tongue. Lexi kissed him back harder and ran her fingers through his hair before moving her hands down to his hips, pulling him as close as she could. Not that she wanted to compare, but if Adrian’s kisses were like sparks, Jax’s were full blown fireworks.
Jax moved one hand to her bare thigh and slowly trailed his fingers upward under her skirt. At the same time he started kissing down her neck. Ever so slightly, she felt the sharp prick of his fangs on her neck and she arched into him, her breaths coming faster and faster. His fingers glided over the smooth fabric of her panties and this was almost enough to push her over the edge.
Without warning, the train come to a halt, sending her flying off the countertop into Jax’s arms before he stood her safely on the ground.
“That’s too bad.” Jax smirked. “We were just getting to the good part.”
Lexi’s skin was flushed and she was aching for more, but she knew she had to go. “I hope we get a chance to continue this soon.”
“You can count on it Lexi. I’ll come find you after the ball.”
“Isn’t it dangerous for you to be there?” Lexi questioned with concern in her voice.
“Don’t worry about me. You might not see me, but I’ll be around. I can wait to see you all dressed up.”
“Does that mean you will be dressed up too?”
“You’ll just have to wait to find out,” Jax said as he winked at her and gave her a quick kiss on the lips. “Now get out there before Adrian sends a search party for you.
