Summary: A late night walk at the marina turns into so much more for Drake and MC (Riley Mason).
Riley cautiously stuck her head out of the palace door and glanced around. Nothing. She walked outside into the cool night air and started to stroll towards the marina. The boats were so pretty at night, like sleeping ducks floating on a still pond. It was late, somewhere around 2am, and the further she walked away from the palace, the more stars she could see dotted across the dark night sky. Riley had been unable to sleep, her mind too full. She should’ve been thinking about how to clear her name, but instead she found herself thinking of Drake. Again.
When she reached the marina, Riley walked out across the dock. She listened to the sound of the water lapping gently against the boats, her footfalls on the wooden planks the only punctuation to the serenity. When she’d nearly reached the end of the dock, she froze. There was a light on in the cabin of one of the boats. Riley wasn’t sure if she’d get in trouble for being out of bed so late, but it sure wouldn’t help in her quest to clear her name. She could see the headline now: “American Harlot Cruises Docks After Dark.”
Riley was about to turn around when someone emerged onto the deck of the boat. She groaned inwardly, not looking forward to the conversation that would inevitably follow, until she realized she recognized the person on the boat.
“Drake?” What are you doing out here?” she asked.
“Mason? Is that you?” Drake asked, squinting at her. “What are you doing out so late?”
“I asked you first,” Riley said. Even in the limited light of the marina, she could see him roll his eyes, but he smiled in spite of himself.
“Couldn’t sleep so I came out here,” he said. “Sometimes the rocking of the boat relaxes me.”
“I couldn’t sleep either,” she said. “Permission to come aboard?”
Drake held out his hand and she took it, letting him help her climb up. Once she was on the deck, he didn’t let go of her hand. They stood together for a moment, Riley feeling almost afraid to move and remind him they were still connected. Unfortunately, he realized it anyway and dropped her hand.
“So,” he said quickly, shoving his hands in his pockets. “This is a boat.”
“Yes, I see that,” Riley said with a grin. “You’d make an excellent tour guide.”
Drake smiled.
“Do you want something to drink?” he asked. She shook her head.
“No, thanks.” Silence fell over them again until Riley couldn’t stand it any longer. “The stars are really pretty out here,” she said as she walked over to an open space on the deck and sat down, leaning back to see better. Drake followed her and sat down as well.
“Yeah, they are,” he agreed. She lay down on her back and he did he same thing. They weren’t touching, but Riley could feel the heat from his arm beside hers. “Whenever I start to feel totally dragged down by everything happening at court, I like to come out here and stare up at the sky. Puts everything in perspective, you know?”
She nodded, before realizing he couldn’t see her nod. Still though, she said nothing. They lay there for a long time, side by side. After a while, Riley felt the back of Drake’s hand brush against hers. She wasn’t sure it had been intentional at first, but then she felt it again. Riley let her hand relax, her palm opening up towards the stars, and she felt Drake’s fingers trace over her palm before threading between her own. She turned her face towards his and found him watching her, his dark eyes staring intently.
“Hi,” she said quietly.
“Hi.”
They watched each other for a moment, but neither moved at first. Then Riley scooted a little closer to him, her arm now pressed against his, their eyes even closer than before. Drake picked him a hand and gently pushed a lock of hair back from her face before cupping her chin. He leaned in and hesitated just before their lips touched, as if he was reconsidering this action. However, Riley didn’t give him a chance to change his mind and she kissed him. His lips responded immediately to hers, setting a slow, languid pace. Riley rolled onto her side and slid an arm around his back, pressing his body against hers as they kissed.
After a while, their kisses grew more insistent, their tongues folding into one another. Riley put her leg over his hip and she felt Drake run his hand up her thigh, pulling her hips flush against his. She could feel how much he wanted her through his jeans and she slipped her hand under his shirt, her fingers pressed against his bare back.
“Wait,” Drake said breathlessly, pulling away from her. “We can’t do this.”
“Yes, we can,” Riley insisted as she kissed him again. He gave in for a moment before he pulled away again.
“What if there’s another photographer?” he said. “I can’t let you deal with something else because of me.”
Riley tugged on his shirt and brought her lips close to his ear.
“Then take me inside,” she whispered.
Drake stood up and helped her to her feet before he led Riley into the cabin of the boat. The curtains were already drawn, but he flicked off the light.
“Don’t you want to see me?” she teased.
“The light could attract too much attention,” he murmured in her ear. His warm breath on her skin made her shiver. “And I want to see all of you, but for now I’m going to have to settle for my other senses.”
Riley felt herself being spun around and then she felt her back pressed against Drake. He brushed her hair to the side, exposing her neck, before planting a gentle trail of kisses down to her collarbone. His hands wandered across her stomach, his fingers splayed beneath her t-shirt, inching it higher and higher. He pulled it off over her head and tossed it aside. Riley reached back and wrapped her arm around his neck as he kissed her own, his hands working to undo the button on her jeans. He slid the zipper down before he knelt behind her, pulling her jeans to the floor as he kissed her exposed legs.
“Sit down,” he said.
He helped her find the cushioned bench that doubled as a bed in the dark and she sat as she’d been told. Drake knelt in front of her, kissing his way up her body until he reached her breasts. He reached behind her and unhooked her bra, pulling it away. Riley could only see the outline of him in the darkness and she gasped when he took her nipple in his mouth, his hand rubbing a slow metronome over her quickly dampening panties. She ran her fingers through his hair, arching her back as he flicked his tongue back and forth. Riley moved her hips against his touch, wanting desperately for his fingers to be on her skin.
Drake slowly pulled her panties down, taking his time as he inched them down her thighs, over her knees, and finally down to a forgotten puddle of lace at her feet. He nudged her knees apart and she did so willingly, pulling him to her for a kiss. Gone were the slow, measured kisses from the deck, and in their place as a more desperate, frenzied kiss. Riley yanked his shirt open and she heard a couple buttons pop off, skittering across the cabin floor.
“I hope that wasn’t your best shirt,” she murmured as he took it off and threw it away.
“Trust me, I have others,” he said before he pressed his bare torso against hers and kissed her deeply, his fingers digging into her hips. Riley reached down between them and didn’t bother wasting time in teasing him through his jeans; she quickly undid his belt and slid her hands inside his boxers, cupping him, hard and hot, in her hands.
“Oh, Christ, Mason,” he moaned into her neck as she started to run her hands up and down his length. He bucked into her hands, but then pulled back.
“I won’t last if you do that much longer,” he whispered, his breath on her neck.
“But I want you to come,” she whispered back, sitting up so she could reach him again. He groaned at her touch, but pulled away again. Without another word, he bent his head and she felt his tongue part her wet folds. Riley moaned as she writhed under his fluttering tongue and he hooked his arms under her legs, pressing her more tightly to him.
When she came, her whole body bucked, her cries filling the boat’s cabin as she called his name. He gripped her waist, holding her in place until she finally had to beg him to stop because the pleasure was too intense. He released her and she saw his dim outline sit back, his hands still roaming her body.
“We should probably be quiet,” he said as he leaned down to kiss her breasts. Riley reached down and guided him to her, pulling his hips closer as he slid inside her. Drake groaned as he began to move in and out of her.
“I can’t make any promises,” Riley gasped as he started to thrust a little harder, a little faster. “Can I help it if you make me want to scream?” she asked, her words hitching with each push inside her. He groaned again, his face buried in her neck. She felt the heat pooling in her abdomen at the sound, the sound of how much he wanted her.
“Christ, Riley,” he murmured as his speed increased. She felt her fingers on her clit, circling her, bringing her back to the edge again.
“Yes,” she gasped as she clung to him. “Don’t stop.”
When she came again, she tried to stifle her voice, biting into Drake’s shoulder, but she couldn’t hold back everything. She felt him move faster and faster and then she felt him reach his own climax, pulsing inside her.
“Oh, fuck, I love you,” he moaned in her ear as he came. In spite of her satisfied exhaustion, Riley felt her stomach turn over at his declaration, a giddy excitement rippling through her.
“What did you say?” Riley asked. She’d heard him perfectly well, but she desperately wanted to hear him say it again.
Drake froze. He didn’t move for a moment, but then Riley felt him take a deep breath and he looked at her, his outline vague in the dark. Drake took her face in his hands and brushed his thumb across her bottom lip.
“I love you,” he finally repeated. Riley couldn’t be sure, but it sounded like he was holding his breath.
“I love you, too.”
He kissed her, still joined to her, and all Riley could think of was how badly she never, ever wanted to let Drake Walker go.
