I shifted in my seat, a polite smile on my face as I pretended to listen to the speech.

This is part of the job, I reminded myself, taking effort to make sure that the smile never slipped. After all, I was Mrs. Adam Vega now and my new public role meant looking charming and engaged during boring fundraiser dinners.

“He does drone on,” my husband whispered in my ear, “but he’s a generous donor.”

I nodded, the smile still in place.

“However, I can help keep you occupied if you like,” Adam offered, his hands sliding under the fabric of my gown and up my leg, resting possessively on my bare thigh.

Oh.

I nodded slightly, the smile still fixed in place, and that was all the encouragement Adam needed. He slipped, his fingers under my underwear, his touch teasing at first, enough to make me want, but not to deliver.

After a moment of that, he slid his fingers inside me, pumping in and out at a momentum that made me gasp. Maybe this wasn’t the best idea. But… Oh… It felt so good. I focused on keeping the polite, engaged look on my face and trying not to moan as Adam’s fingers worked magic. His thumb rubbed my sensitive nub and I was close, so very, very close and then suddenly I became aware of the host’s words.

“Now, let me introduce the man of the hour, Senator Adam Vega!”

And just like that, Adam had removed his hand and had risen to his feet. He gave me a quick, polite kiss and then walked confidently towards the podium.

I listened to his speech, much more engaging than the previous one, all the while trying to ignore the ache inside of me, the one that Adam had created. After the speech, there was mingling and that helped because I was so focused on remembering names and putting on the political wife face, that I was able to ignore the ache inside of me. Mostly.

Sometimes I’d catch sight of my husband across the room and the fire would reignite. How could I possibly want him so much?

“You did great tonight,” Lisa told me when it was time to leave.

I smiled gratefully, “thank you. I’m getting there and hey, I only overheard one rude comment.”

Adam’s eyes narrowed at that, even though he was deep in conversation with Paul. “From who?” Oops, I kept forgetting about vampire super hearing.

“It doesn’t matter,” I told him. The look on his face said otherwise.

“She’s right,” Lisa said, backing me up, “the important thing is for Lilith to ignore the haters and to just keeping doing what she’s doing. She was great tonight. Poised, elegant, engaged. With every appearance, she makes it clear that her age should not be a factor.”

Paul was silent, which I knew was the best outcome I could hope for.

Adam nodded before our car appeared. We said our good nights and Adam helped me into the limo.

As soon as the car started moving, I climbed on top of him.

“Eager, aren’t you?” He teased, his hands on my hips.

“You know why,” I told him, grinding against him.

“I do,” he confirmed with a smirk, “did it help make the evening go faster? Thinking of me and all the things I’m going to do to you once we get home?”

“No,” I groaned, “it just… Damn it, Adam. I was so close.”

“Were you?” He asked in a low voice, “I guess we should do something about that then unless you want to wait until we get home.”

“No!” I said again, “I want you. Right here, right now.” The idea of waiting was pure torture.

“Anything you desire, sweetheart” Adam told me, wrapping his arm around me and pulling me closer for a deep kiss, my dress was hiked up thanks to our position, making it easier for Adam to slip his hand between my legs, though this time, he slipped my underwear off before picking up where he left off. This time I was free to make noise, though I didn’t want to be too loud, and I moaned and gasped as he pumped his fingers in and out of me.

“Is this all you want?” Adam asked as the waves of orgasm crested over me and I came apart against his hand, my chest pressed against his.

“No,” I told him impatiently. “Not even close.”

I slipped my hands between us, fumbling with the button of Adam’s pants, shifting so that he could kick them and his underwear off. I ran my hands over his hardening length.

“Have I told you how exquisite you looked tonight?” Adam asked as I pumped him in my hand, “though I think this is my favorite look of the night.”

“My skirt up around my waist about to get fucked in a limo?” I teased, letting go of him long enough to ease myself down on him, sighing at the contact.

“Mine,” He corrected, his hand digging into my hips. I was on top, a rarity for us, but he controlled the pace.

Adam wrapped his arms around me like a vice, holding me tight against him as he thrust up into me. Our mouths and bodies were joined, passionate kisses being exchanged as our bodies moved together.

It occurred to me that this was the first time we’d had sex outside of our bedroom. I wondered why that was, of course, we hadn’t been married long, a few weeks. It was a fleeting thought, replaced by the sensations that threatened to overwhelm me.

I came with a shout that was muffled by Adam’s mouth and a moment later I could feel him come, shuddering against me as he spilled himself inside of me. He held me close for a moment, his arms wrapped around me.

I buried my face in his shoulder, needing a moment to come down from the high. I wondered if I would ever get used to the way he made me feel, to just how good it was, how intense. Maybe if I lived to be as old as Adam. Even then, only maybe.

After a moment, Adam released me and I climbed off of him so that we could dress and straighten our clothes. Afterward, I settled against his side, his arm wrapped protectively around me.

“That was unexpected,” I told him, smiling up at him.

He raised an eyebrow. “Bad unexpected?”

“No, not at all,” I assured him, “though I was cursing you a bit during your speech.”

“Were you now?” Adam asked in a low voice, “but you wanted me to distract you and you should have known that I would follow through, I’ll always follow through.” His voice took on a low husky tone and his eyes met mine, promising even more pleasures to come once we got home.
