I woke up to lips brushing against mine.

For a second I thought I was still dreaming and I snuggled deeper into my pillow, not wanting to wake up and be alone again. But then hands joined the kiss, gentle against my skin.

“Eleanor,” a familiar voice whispered in my ear. I cautiously opened my eyes to see Liam, propped on one elbow, the other hand resting on my face. “Good morning, beautiful.”

“Liam….” I breathed, still worried that this was a dream. After all, how many nights had I fallen asleep alone and dreamt of waking up beside him?

“I was going to let you sleep in, but then I saw you and I couldn’t resist kissing you,” Liam confessed, “I guess I had to make sure you were real.”

“It’s the best way to wake up,” I assured him, rolling over onto my side so that I was facing him. I placed my hand on his chest, just to reassure myself that he was really there.

“I’m glad,” he said softly, “because I plan on waking you up like this for a very long time.”

The thought filled me with warmth. “Maybe sometimes I’ll wake you up instead,” I teased.

“I can’t wait,” Liam assured me, his blue eyes filled with warmth.

He leaned forward and pressed his lips to mine again. I think he meant it to be a quick brush of the lips, but I responded eagerly and wrapped my arm around him. He groaned and then deepened the kiss, pulling me tight against him.

As I lost myself in the feel of Liam’s lips against mine and his hands on my skin, all I could think was that this was the happiest I’d ever been in my entire life and that I was lucky enough to have a lifetime of this ahead of me.
