“Grant, what is that?” Drake asked me, freezing in his spot, his eyes transfixed on something in the distance.

“It’s a pool,” I told him with an eye-roll, “and come on or we’ll lose the boys.” I directed my attention away from Drake to call out. “Jackson! Will! Stay where we can see you.”

The boys stopped running, though I had a feeling that would last about 30 seconds. I was glad that my parents and sister would be joining us tomorrow. The more adults to keep an eye on the boys, the better.

“Come on,” I said impatiently, tugging at Drake’s arm, my eyes glued to our sons.

He moved reluctantly, but his eyes were still focused on the site that had bothered him so much. “Grant, that slide is a giant clown.”

“Yep,” I answered as we made our way towards lounge chairs. “It’s part of the Boardwalk theme.”

“It’s a clown.” Drake repeated, “you slide through the mouth of a clown..”

“Daddy, can I go on the slide?” Jackson asked eagerly, having apparently only heard that word. “And can you go with me?”

Drake looked pained. “Uhh…”

“Let us settle first,” I answered, taking some pity on him, “k?” I nodded to the pool. “You guys can play in the shallow end, but stay where we can see you.”

“You knew about the pool,” Drake accused.

I smiled. “Yep.”

He scowled. “Why would you do this to me?”

“Well, I wasn’t aware that a grown man who shrugged off a bullet was afraid of clowns,” I teased.

“I’m not afraid,” Drake denied, “I just… That thing is creepy..”

I had to admit it was a little creepy, but…

“I showed you hotel pictures,” I said calmly, “I tried to engage you about planning this trip and you just shrugged and said ‘pick whatever you want’, so I picked what I wanted. This hotel is nice, it’s close to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, it fit all of our needs.”

“And there are no hotels that fit our needs that don’t have creepy clown heads?” Drake asked, shooting me a look.

“Oh there are several,” I answered with a smirk, “but I liked this one, and since you didn’t want to give an opinion, it was my opinion that mattered.”

Drake scowled. “Is this a punishment?’

I shrugged. “Maybe.” I settled on the lounger and then looked at him with a grin. “You should take your shirt off, after all, Jackson really wants to ride the slide.”

Drake glared at me, but he tossed his shirt aside, giving me a moment to admire his bare chest. I noticed that I wasn’t the only one doing so, which was something I had gotten used to. My husband was damn attractive.

“And next time we plan a vacation, maybe you should make a few suggestions, huh?” I said sweetly. “And then we can avoid the creepy clown pool. Especially since you know how much the boys love to swim.”

I’d wait until later to tell him that I had only booked 1 night at this resort and then we’d be switching. I was going to let him suffer for a little while, he deserved it after the months of complaints about Disney and the complete lack of interest in planning.

“You are an evil woman, Grant,” Drake told me and then took a deep breath, “Jackson! Slide time.”

“You’re a good man, Drake,” I told him, giving him a kiss on the cheek, “and I’ll make it up to you once the boys are in bed.”

HIs eyes lit with that familiar fire that hadn’t dimmed at all in twelve years. “I’m going to hold you to that.”
