Sunday

Summary/Note: So, I had this thought about doing a more in-depth piece based on Days Go By…and this happened.

The crack of thunder and bright burst of lightning wakes Mika out of a deep slumber. It’s early, barely 5:30 AM on a Sunday, much earlier than she ever gets up. She burrows down into the blankets, Drake’s chest warm against her back, his fingers threaded with hers, legs tangled together. She will never get tired of waking up like this with him, even though it still takes her by surprise sometimes that he’s actually here, and not just part of a dream.

Drake sighs against her, pressing gentle kisses to her shoulder and running a hand over her hip. “It’s early,” he murmurs. “What are you doing up?”

“Storm woke me,” she answers quietly, rolling over and bringing her hand up to caress his cheek. Drake presses a kiss into her palm and opens his eyes, leaning in to kiss her.

“We should get up,” she says, nudging him.

You want to get up early?” he asks. “You never get up early unless you have to.”

“It’s storming,” she explains. “I love storms. We can shower, get breakfast…” she trails off and grins at him suggestively.

Drake laughs, that familiar little “heh” noise he makes that always makes her smile. “Or we could sleep a little longer.”

It’s oh-so-tempting to stay in bed with Drake, especially when he’s sleep rumpled and warm and his hand is caressing her thigh, but…

“Nope,” she declares, climbing out of bed. “I’m going to shower. You know where to find me.”

She winks as she slowly saunters out of the room, dropping her tank top and pajama shorts as she goes, grinning as she hears him groan out her name and follow her.

“You know it takes us longer to get ready when we shower together,” he points out.

“That’s debatable,” she retorts. “Besides, it saves water.”

Drake laughs. “It definitely doesn’t. And it gets cold.”

Turning on the shower, she playfully bumps her hip into his as they brush their teeth. He shakes his head at her as he puts his toothbrush back, then strips his boxer-briefs off and steps into the shower.

His hands rub and squeeze her shoulders when she joins him, and she sighs in pleasure as she tilts her head forward, his fingers digging into her neck and upper back, working out the tight muscles.

She loves showering with him, the feel of his wet skin against hers as they take turns under the shower head, the wet kisses they share.

Drake suds up her loofah with her body wash and runs it over her arms, her chest, down her stomach and legs. She rinses off slowly, knowing he’s watching her. When she’s done, she opens her eyes, the look on his face making her breath catch. He spins her away from the shower head, moving his hand slowly between her legs and parting her folds, one finger slipping inside her.

Mika moans quietly, leaning back against the wall, the tiles cool against her back. Drake leans down, his lips brushing over her neck as he slips another finger inside her.

“Drake,” she gasps, digging her fingernails into his shoulders and grinding her hips down with the movement of his hand.

“Yes, baby?” he murmurs, the nickname making her shiver.

She normally doesn’t like cutesy nicknames, but the sound of “baby” falling off his lips, combined with the lilt of his accent, always manages to get to her.

“Oh,” she whimpers, as he speeds up and twists his hand, her breathing coming more rapidly.

He sucks lightly on her neck, then bites gently, the sensation pushing her over the edge.

“Drake,” she groans, slumping down, his arms wrapping around her as she presses slow, lazy kisses to his chest.

She can feel him hard and hot against her stomach and pushes him back slightly, dropping to her knees and taking him into her mouth.

“Oh fuck, Mika,” he hisses, hands tangling in her hair as she sucks, slowly at first, running her tongue along his shaft.

He groans her name as she moves faster, his hips thrusting involuntarily against her as he tugs at her hair. She can tell he’s close to coming and scrapes her teeth gently over him, when he suddenly hauls her to her feet.

“Turn around,” he says, his voice low against her ear.

She turns, and Drake presses his hand against her lower back until she leans forward, her hands braced against the wall, then pushes into her.

Mika inhales sharply at the sudden sensation as he stretches her, moaning as he thrusts in and out, his hands gripping her hips tightly. The angle and his hand slipping down to move between her legs has her coming undone again, his name a cry on her lips.

“Jesus, you feel good,” Drake pants as he moves faster, then groans out his release, his head dropping forward.

Her heart is pounding, her face flushed, as Drake slowly pulls her back to standing, turning her around to kiss her deeply.

“Mmm,” she hums, wrapping her arms around his neck and leaning into him.

Shivering, she realizes the water has gotten cold and can’t help but giggle. Drake looks at her in amusement as he steps back, then curses under his breath as the cold water hits his skin. They rinse off quickly and Drake shuts the water off, then steps out and hands her a towel. Drake dries off and runs a towel over his hair, then wraps it around his waist.

“It stopped storming,” he says as he steps into the bedroom and starts getting dressed. “Want to go get breakfast?”

“Definitely,” she answers, joining him and pulling clothes out of her dresser and closet. He smiles as she gets dressed.

“What?” she asks curiously.

“I think that’s what you wore the first night I met you.”

Mika looks down and laughs. “It is. I need to update my wardrobe.”

Drake snags her around the waist before they step out the door, brushing her hair out of her face and kissing her.

“I love you,” he murmurs. It isn’t the first time he’s said it, but those words, the look on his face when he says it, still make her heart beat a little faster every time.

“I love you, too,” she smiles against his lips.

He pulls her out the door, locking it behind them and taking her hand in his. Drake is surprisingly more openly affectionate than she would have guessed. He likes holding her hand, wrapping his arm around her while she leans into him, pressing gentle kisses to the side of her head when they’re out. She loves that they can be open like this, without the constant worry of the press or suitors watching their every move.

They take their usual booth at their favorite cafe down the street, ordering blueberry pancakes and coffee. Their coffee is notoriously strong, and Drake shakes his head wryly as she all but inhales two cups.

“You know that coffee makes you jittery,” he reminds her.

“But it’s good,” she giggles. She dumps syrup on her pancakes and Drake groans.

“And a gallon of sugar,” he teases her.

“Delicious,” Mika mumbles around a mouthful of pancakes.

Later, when they head home, she persuades him to walk a little longer and take advantage of the now pleasant weather. The sunlight warms her enough that she shrugs out of her jacket and Drake pulls his button down off, leaving him in just a white t-shirt. His hand is warm and just slightly rough against hers, his fingers squeezing hers every so often.

When they get back to the apartment and he’s tugging his shoes off, she’s hit, suddenly, with how in love with him she is.

She’s not sure what brings it on, has known for a long time and tells him she loves him, every day. He catches her staring at him.

“What is it?” he asks, wrapping his arms loosely around her.

She stands on her tiptoes and presses her lips to his.

“I’m really happy you’re here,” she says.

Drake smiles. “So am I.”

“I don’t…want you to leave,” she says softly.

“Hey.” Drake tilts her chin up gently. “I’m not going anywhere. I’ll be here, for as long as you want me.”

“Drake. I’m always going to want you,” she whispers.

His breath catches slightly at that, then a gentle smile crosses his face.

“I’m always going to want you,” he reassures her, his lips warm against hers as he kisses her.

It starts storming again as they move to the living room, and she snuggles against him on the couch, buried under her favorite blanket. The warmth and soothing motion of his hand running up and down her side lulls her almost to sleep.

“You falling asleep on me?” Drake’s voice is quiet against her ear.

“Mmm,” she mumbles.

“That’s what happens when you get up at 5:30,” he teases.

“Mmm-hmm,” she sighs sleepily, curling into him.

“Go to sleep, baby,” he murmurs. “I’ll be right here.”
