Nervous

Summary: Drake and Mika share a moment together. Set immediately after everything with the traitor is figured out.

Note: Not canon.

Mika has never been this nervous around Drake. His hand is warm in hers as they head for his truck, the gravel crunching under their feet. She’s lost in thought, about him, about them, and her stomach flutters as she thinks about their future together. Drake nudges her gently as they get to his truck, opening the door for her and smiling at her as she climbs in. It’s a sweeter smile than he usually gives her, and she can see the slightest hint of nervousness behind it.

They’re quiet on the drive, his hand resting lightly on top of hers, squeezing her fingers every so often. When they get to his house, his hands fumble with the keys just slightly, until she gently touches his lower back. He takes a deep breath and gets the door unlocked, flipping on the front porch light as they step over the threshold. Mika leans against the wall as he re-locks the door, then steps in front of her.

Drake presses his lips lightly to her forehead, resting his hands on her hips. “You okay?” he asks in a quiet rumble.

“Mm-hmm,” she murmurs, staring up at him, his face just barely visible in the dark. She slides her arms around his back and leans into him. “Just…a little nervous.”

He slides a hand up to her hair. “Mika Kelemen, nervous?” he teases gently, tilting her head back and pressing his lips to her temple.

She laughs quietly. “It’s been known to happen once or twice.”

Mika feels his lips spread in a brief smile as he brushes his lips against her cheek.

“I’m nervous too,” he murmurs, capturing one of her hands in his and pressing it against the side of his neck.

She can feel his pulse, steady and rapid under her fingers. She’s seen Drake nervous before, when they kissed in the study, sitting by the fire pit, in the spa, and almost every stolen kiss after that. But that always seemed to be more nervousness about getting caught than anything else. This…this is something new.

“What are you nervous about?” Mika asks in a whisper.

Drake brushes his nose against hers. “I didn’t think this would ever happen,” he admits, running his hands up and down her sides. “I just…damn, Kelemen. I just want to make you feel good.”

Mika groans at his words, feels a flood of heat and desire pool low in her belly. “Drake…”

He steps back and tangles their fingers together, leading her into his bedroom. He kicks his shoes off and sheds his button-up, then pushes her jacket over her shoulders and brushes his lips over her neck.

“What are you nervous about?” he asks as she slips out of her flats.

“I’ve been wanting you a long time. I think I’m still expecting that this has to be secret and rushed and that I have to spend the night alone again.”

“Mmm,” Drake mumbles in understanding, tugging the strap of her tank top aside and kissing her shoulder.

“Part of me wants to just rip your clothes off and have my way with you,” Mika whispers, tilting her head to the side to give him better access.

Drake groans against her. “Dammit, Mika.”

“And part of me wants to take my time, and make this last,” Mika sighs, fisting her hands in his white t-shirt and pulling him closer.

Drake sits on the edge of his bed and she straddles him, smiling at his quiet groan as she settles in his lap. He studies her face for a moment, then leans in and brushes his lips lightly over hers, soft and slow, her eyes closing in pleasure.

“Mika,” he says quietly, brushing his mouth over hers again, his breath warm against her face.

“Hmm?”

He pulls back and she opens her eyes slowly. She can’t quite read the look on his face.

“Drake?”

“I love you,” he whispers, and tears spring to her eyes unexpectedly.

She’s been in love with him for a long time, and has known he cares for her deeply, but, knowing Drake and his continued insistence that she deserves everything in the world and stubborn refusal to accept that he is what she wants, she’d expected she would be the first to say those three words.

Mika leans back in, her lips feather-light against his. “I love you too,” she murmurs, her breath hitching.

Drake’s face lights up. She smiles as he brushes more slow kisses over her mouth, then loops her arms around his neck as he stands and lifts her up.

“Say it again,” Drake says, his eyes darkening as he lays her on his bed.

“I love you, Drake.”

“I love you too.”

She loses count of how many times they whispers those words that night, but she knows she’ll never get enough of hearing them, or the look on Drake’s face when she says them back.
