Awaken: Chapter 2

(I posted a summary of ideas for this story. I do not own the characters, they are owned by Pixelberry, the idea behind the story came from hopefulmoonobject. Also loosely based on World of Darkness from White Wolf.  Also Arthurian Legends)

**Cliffs of Moher, County Clare, Ireland**

*9:15am Local Time*

Trinity lies back in the old claw foot tub in the families personal bathroom. *What the hell is going on with me? Why do I keep burning everything around me?*

**Knock,Knock**

“Yes,” Trinity replied to the whoever was on the other side of her door.

“Baby Girl, want some help with your hair and back? I know your almost 18, I just thought we could talk?” Her mother Fiona had a tone of worry to her voice.

Trinity curled her body against her bent knees like she had been taught as a child. Modesty was her Mother’s middle name, and she had stressed to Trinity almost everyday over the years that people would be watching her. “Sure Mamma.”

Fiona entered cautiously, looking into Trinity’s face. Worry and confusion was all over the young lady. “Trinity, love, you know I love you, and we’ve only ever wanted you to be safe.” Fiona began as she picked up the honeysuckle shampoo.

“I feel so alone, momma. I’m not a were-“

“No, honey, you’re not. And we probably should have told you more early on, but we’ve been searching for answers all these years as well.”

Trinity looked up at Fiona, who was slowly massaging circles over her scalp. Concern, and love washed over Fiona’s face. “What is it momma?”

Fiona rinsed out Trinity’s long red curls while she thought about her reply. After a few silent moments, she finally replied quietly.

“Baby, you know you are my daughter no matter what, right?”

Trinity had never heard her mother speak so quietly. “What is it? You’re starting to scare me?”

**Shannon Airport, County Clare, Ireland**

*11:00am*

Liam, Maxwell, and Drake exited the private jet, and made a bee-line straight to the waiting SUV that Bastian, the head of the King’s Guard, had arranged for them. Drake opened the back for Liam and Maxwell to climb in, then took the passenger seat beside their hired driver.

Liam looked over at Maxwell, his short strawberry blonde curls were frizzy from his nap on the jet. Worry, and exhaustion plastered all over his young face. “You know, we’ll find her right?” Liam asked in a whisper.

“I really hope it’s her, I can’t stand knowing the past and not having her to help.” A small tear slid down his face.

“This feels like a good lead. The closest we’ve had in years! I know inside I’ve worried about her since the night you came, but it feels right this time!” Liam gave his friend a reassuring smile before turning his attention to the Irish Countryside around them.

**National Road 67**

*11:30 am*

Trinity stared out the window of her Father’s old SUV. Her morning was full of unbelievable fantasies from her Mother, yet part of her screamed that it was all true.

        * “ Trinity, what do you remember about your dreams?” Fiona had asked her.

“You’re gonna fuss at me, again, and tell me to stop living in story books.” Fiona was shocked to see the tears forming in her daughter’s eyes. She grabbed her towel and wrapped Trinity in it, helping her out of the tub.

“I’m sorry, I never meant for it to sound like I was fussing, it’s just…” Fiona started to wonder if she should wait for Luke. He should be home any minute, but Trinity’s face told her it was time. “… you know better than many, the truth about the world, our world of darkness. There are other worlds, besides these.”

Trinity’s eyes grew wide, as she sat down at the vanity, tying a thick purple robe around her. Her long curls dripping onto the floor. Fiona grabbed a dry towel from the shelf, and laid it over her daughter’s head, gently squeezing the moisture out of her hair.

“What would you say is your favorite legend, love?” Fiona asked, a slight gleam in her eye, telling that she already knows.

“Tales of King Arthur and Avalon, you know this Momma. But at the same time, I feel as if the story is all wrong.” Trinity was biting her lip, something she did whenever she was nervous and felt the heat rising inside her.

“Unless you want to have this conversation in your bed, please try to calm down,” Fiona watched as she took a few deep breaths before she continued. “What I tell you, you have to stay calm, if you can’t do that, we’ll have to wait till your Father comes home.”*

Luke looked up into his rear view mirror, sitting behind him, Trinity was staring out the window, his son Daniel was behind his wife and his soon to be, daughter-in-law sat between his children. The morning hadn’t quiet gone to plan, and he was starting to have second thoughts about this meeting, but time was running out. Trinity now knew the truth, well, as much as they knew themselves, Fiona had already begun telling Trinity when he finally made it back from the rendezvous.

*Trinity was already dressed in a black, traditional gypsy dress, marking her coming of age within their traveler community. But, unlike their small pack of were-lynxes, Trinity was a changeling, possibly even the high Fae herself, but image had to be maintained for her safety. Fiona was placing the veil across Trinity’s mouth and nose as he walked in.

“Good, I’m glad to see everyone is ready. It’s all set, but we need to hit the road to get there in time.” Luke suddenly realized the uneasy silence that was hanging in the room. “What did I miss?”

“She knows, Luke.” Fiona said, her head bowed, knowing she not only went against her mate’s orders, but her Alpha’s as well.

Luke felt his lynx’s anger, but saw the sadness and love in Fiona’s eyes as they flashed gold before him, then back to green. He looked at his daughter, his soon to be daughter-in-law, Hannah, stood next to her. She had a calmness about her, but he could smell her anxiety and fear.

“Aye, and how has she taken it? Any damage that needs repairing before we leave?” He was trying to relax the others.

“May I speak, father?” Trinity quietly replied.

“Of course.” Luke took a deep breath, hoping she didn’t lose control.

“I understand why it was kept from me, I, as I would assume you as well, still have many questions.” Trinity paused, trying to word herself carefully, “I still wish to call you Father.”*

Luke looked back again. *I hope she feels that way after she awakens.* A slight sadness passed over his face.

**Knappogue Castle, Quin, County Clare, Ireland**

*11:30 am*

The black SUV pulled up to an old medieval castle, that by all appearances, had gone through major restorations in the last decades. Drake turned to his friends in the back seat, “ Per Bastian’s orders, I need you two, to stay here while I do a quick sweep.” Before Liam or Maxwell could argue, Drake had already exited the vehicle.

Maxwell glanced out at the grounds, then gasped. “It isn’t?”

Liam gave a slight grin, “Yes, it is!” It indeed was a stronghold from their shared past, and befitting their current circumstances. “This is where we found her in 1641 during the rebellion!”

“We were so close that time.” Maxwell sighed, inside he was praying to the Lady of the Lake to please deliver his sister. And they waited for Drake.
