‘Whatcha doing?’ Elizabeth asked her fiancé. She’d just gotten back from court and now, freshly out of the shower, had come downstairs to find Drake situated on the couch, poring over some documents.

‘Looking over these forms for Liam,’ he told her vaguely in deep concentration as she planted a kiss on his cheek. ‘Gimme fifteen minutes and I’ll be done?’

‘Perfect,’ she pronounced, settling on the opposite side, thumbing through her phone, catching up on emails and messages she’d missed that day. Eventually Elizabeth felt Drake’s eyes on her, raking down her body out of the corner of her eye and she lowered her phone.

‘Finished?’

‘No,’ he admitted, running a hand through his hair and sighing. ‘This is much more complicated than I expected. But I need a break and you’re looking too good to resist.‘

‘Ugh,’ she rolled her eyes at him as he pulled her close. ‘You’re such a marshmallow.’

Drake frowned good-naturedly at her use of the nickname before settling her on his lap facing him. He ran a hand up her side meaningfully. ‘Any ideas for a distraction?’

‘Oh no you don’t Walker,’ she replied, knowing what he was hinting at and swatting his hand away. ‘I’m still sore from you fucking me raw this morning. I could barely walk today.’

Drake smirked with pride. ‘You weren’t complaining at the time.’

Elizabeth’s lips lifted at the ends. ‘True… but I think I need a bit of recharge time before you can have your way with me again… Wanna just make out instead?’

He raised an eyebrow at her. ‘What are we Richmond? Horny teenagers?’

‘I thought you liked kissing me,’ she pouted.

‘Come here.’ Drake took advantage of the moment to press a deep kiss to her mouth and she responded just as eagerly. Perhaps too eagerly, as he pulled away to look her with a love Elizabeth knew would only ever be reserved for her. ‘You’re wrong,’ he stated watching her mouth open to protest and he swiftly added, ‘I love kissing you.’

Before she could reply with a snarky remark, he pulled her back to his lips, silencing her with another kiss deeper this time, licking her lower lip for access that she granted him immediately. With a deep soulful kiss, their tongues danced together and they lost themselves in one another, Elizabeth reflected on just how much Drake had really opened up to her since they’d been engaged and how she’d loved getting to learn all his little intricacies.

From the moment Drake had let his walls down for the first time in Lythikos, she’s been fascinated to know more about the man behind the sarcastic remarks and grumpy exterior. Perhaps that was what drew her to him in the first place. He felt things so keenly but hid them just as well if not better behind that stone mask of his. And once she’d seen what was inside she hadn’t intended on stopping until all his walls were down.

Ever so gently, Drake lowered the both of them so they were lying down on the couch, never once breaking their contact. This way Elizabeth could draw him in better, tangling her fingers in his soft dark hair as she enjoyed the feeling of every part of her pressed tightly against every part of him. His kisses ignited a fire that weaved and danced across her skin, burning her lips in the best possible way until she was almost loathe to come up for air because it meant being separated from his intoxicating touch.

Elizabeth would never take a moment of being with him for granted after the torture that had been the engagement tour. To have to hide behind closed doors, sneaking off and stealing a moment here and there was never enough. There was some days where she hadn’t gotten to see Drake at all, always trapped by courtly duties and formalities, smiling and mingling with nobles who were just as fake as the smile on her face when the only place she wanted to be was in his arms. It had killed her to have to act like they were nothing more than friends, limiting themselves to veiled gazes and perfunctory, platonic touches to conceal the passion and pure desire that lurked beneath the surface. During that time, on bad days when her future and the possibility of being together had seemed bleak, it was those stolen kisses that seemed to chase away all her doubts. As soon as her lips met his, her faith and hope were instantly reinvigorated and in the time she was with him — all too brief back then — her world was complete.

His lips left hers to draw a much needed breath and her body ached at the loss of contact, if she could forgo oxygen to remain attached to him, she would. Elizabeth couldn’t say for certain if Drake knew just how amazing of a kisser he really was. His kisses had her feeling drunker than any alcohol in the world and unable to stop herself from pulling him in closer at the thought, she almost was jealous of the other women he’d been with in the past – they got a share of this before she did. But then again, Elizabeth reminded herself, only she had claim to him for the rest of her life.

Drake’s hands roved her body and with each touch, every subtle movement he reaffirmed this. He was hers and she was his forever. And soon enough, that would be official. The thought sent a thrill coursing through her and although they were already entwined so close together, Elizabeth still needed more of him in an effort to draw him in even closer, she moved to roll on top of him but instead Drake’s lips were suddenly ripped away from hers. Elizabeth’s eyes flew open instantly only to find that her fiancé was no where to be found.

‘Drake?’ She called out in alarm, thoroughly puzzled by his disappearance.

She whipped her head around in search of him but it was like Drake had completely vanished. A groan came from somewhere beneath her and she leaned over the edge of the couch to find him lying on the floor, rubbing his hip in pain.

‘What are you doing down there?’ She asked, perplexed, the beginnings of a smile starting to form.

He glared up at her, only making her grin widen. ‘What do you think Richmond?’

‘Oh Drake,’ Elizabeth couldn’t help the laughter bubbling up between words. ‘Did you just.. I can’t believe… you actually fell off…’

Her laughter only increased as he shot her another look of annoyance, clearly not impressed by her reaction.

‘Richmond…’ his voice held a slight warning now.

‘Oh my god…’ she choked out between giggles, unable to control herself enough to ask after his safety. ‘Are-are you alright?’

He ignored her question and her laughter was replaced with a yelp of alarm as he jerked her arm suddenly, pulling her off the edge of the couch and she landed with a reflexive ‘oofh’ on his chest.

‘Drake!’ Elizabeth gasped indignantly

‘Now you know how it feels,’ he told her smugly. ‘Though my landing wasn’t as comfortable as yours. Now come here,’ he told her, guiding her face up to his. ‘I’m not done with you yet.’

‘I certainly hope not.’ Elizabeth couldn’t help but grin as their lips met again in a deep kiss, picking up right where they’d left off.

Oh how she loved this man and she wasn’t going to stop until the forever ran out…
