The Backstory of Priya Lacroix

I don’t know where to start. So, I might as well start from the beginning.

It was a dark evening in Fall when a baby girl was born in 19th century India, in a room that was usually used for other purposes.

A baby’s cry sounded through the room, but there was no commotion. A surprisingly calm woman grabbed her emerging newborn, leaned back against the wall that was behind her, and pulled her baby close.

The birthing had been quick, it had been calm and wonderful, but there was a hint of disappointment in the air. In one way, this baby was a gift. In another way, it hadn’t been wanted.

As soon as the door opened, letting an older woman inside, the peaceful silence between mother and child got interrupted. “Oh my…”

“It’s okay. I’m fine.”

Without closing the door or taking a breather, the older woman kneeled down, next to the new mother and the bloody mess that was the floor. Her eyes were set on the new human, watching how it was being nursed in absolute peace, carelessly unclean, covered in blood and whatnot. “Boy or girl?”

The mother’s hand covered her baby’s head protectively. “Girl…”

The old woman’s facial expression turned angry immediately. “I told you this was wrong!”

She sighed. “Mother-”

“How in the world is this child supposed to be cared for? With what money? You have two children already! You are financially unstable! Who even is her father?”

“…I don’t know.”

“Ugh, of course you don’t know!”

It was unexpected, but the young woman seemed to be getting angry as well. “How the hell would I know?!”

The older woman shook her head. “This doesn’t work. You need to get rid of her.”

“Never! She is loved!”

Her expression became even angrier. “What a pathetically selfish daughter is it that I raised? You want to expose this human to a life of misery, simply because you are too attached to-”

“Kill her?”

The woman was quiet, eyes set on her daughter. “Yes.” She was deadly serious. “End the suffering before it starts.”

For the first time in minutes, the new mother focused her attention back on her baby. She felt her soft skin, dark, untamed hair and those big brown eyes looking right into her heart, the baby’s tiny hands clutching her index finger tightly. Hit by a sudden wave of emotions, she mumbled, teary eyes, “Beloved… You’re beloved.”

“This is insane!” the older woman cursed. “Madness!”

“Priya means beloved. I want to name her Priya.”

“You, my daughter, are making a grave mistake. What will your children say? How much longer will they starve?”

“But… They don’t starve. Not… Not yet.” She faced the ground, obviously guilty.

“This child,” the woman pointed. “You have forced her into existence, set her up for a whole life of suffering. In this society, she is not wanted. She will be broken. And this… this will forever be your fault. The blame is solely on you.”

Sitting on a scruffy mattress, Priya was staring at the wall, wearing a thin white nightdress, hair pinned up loosely, her eyes in a way lifeless. One minute. One minute and she would see this piece of shit again.

Just then, the door opened and a man in his fifties stepped inside, as sleazy and fat as she had met him years ago. Great. He was early.

Priya held her breath. Every time, automatically, whenever someone came into this room.

“Aww, look at that,” he stated, smirking, seemingly satisfied. “Is my favorite whore waiting for me?”

“Mhm.”

Having approached the bed, his hand reached for her head, petting it gently. “Good girl.”

She didn’t like his touch, but her reflexes to back away had disappeared. Years ago.

“Why don’t you get naked? You know that’s how I love you most.”

Knowing she wore nothing underneath, Priya grabbed her dress and pulled it over her head.

He looked at her for a few moments before declaring, a sad face on, “It’s only a blowjob today. I’m sorry, babygirl. You know your fine ass fascinates me, but I don’t have so much time for you today.”

Priya leaned forward, positioning herself closer to him, and opened his pants. She took it inside her mouth without a whole lot of thinking and started pleasuring him. Quickly, she felt one of his hands on her breast, another one on her head as he thrusted inside her.

It didn’t take long for him to finish in her mouth, groaning, pulling her close.

Finally, she let it slide out, and swallowed.

But instead of pulling his pants back up, the man reached out for what was between her legs.

Priya backed away. “Stop.”

But he didn’t. He pushed her back, lying down on top of her, forcing his lips on hers. Her cheeks, he held with his hands, making her unable to move away from him. Finally, he pulled away. He whispered in her ear, “And tomorrow… You’ll get a special surprise.”

Your shrimp dick is in no way a surprise.

The man sat back up. “Now, I gotta go.”

She sat up as well, ignoring the fact that he had just touched her without permission. “Cash?”

“Tomorrow.”

Priya narrowed her eyes. “No. Now.”

“Pretty rude for a whore. But that’s why I like you.” He winked. “I’ll pay you tomorrow. Double. I promise.”

“…I can’t do that. You have to pay now, like everybody else.”

He pouted. “Aw… I thought we had a special bond.”

She wanted to shake her head, but didn’t. What a stupid asshole he just was.

The man closed his pants. He solely grinned and said, “See you tomorrow, babygirl,” before leaving the room.

She stared at the closed door, debating whether to go after him or not. Would it even be worth it? He could beat her up or worse, she really didn’t put it past him. A wealthy old lech that had nothing to do but to fuck around with strangers. What a damn loser. Regardless, that increased the probability of him actually returning tomorrow – with cash. That he hadn’t paid for whatever dumbass reason.

Looking out of the window, she saw that it was evening. Finally. Time to do something, anything. No matter what, as long as she was left alone. Priya thought of showering, but remembered that she had no water. She thought of eating, but realized the food was rotten. Another day without basic care. Whatever. Like every day, she would survive.

Priya stood up and grabbed her dress to put it back on. In this room, being clothed felt less dirty than being naked. Right when feeling the cloth on her skin, there was a hand on it, pulling it away from her. Then, a voice, demanding, “Take it off!”

There was a man who had entered the room, a familiar face. She knew him. And she hated him. Angrily, he ripped the dress off of her and pushed her onto the bed!

“What the-”

He pulled his pants down and demanded, “Turn around! I don’t wanna see your ugly ass face!” Before she could react, he grabbed her waist, turned her around and thrusted inside.

“Ah!” Unprepared, she tensed up, felt the pain – until, endless horrific minutes later, he finished inside her, and pulled back out.

“Priya, you slut. Thought you’d seen the last of me, huh?”

Finally, she turned around, her eyes wide… scared.

“You want cash?” His pants back on, he presented her a handful money. “Then pick it up!” He threw it around, having it land anywhere and everywhere across the room. “Get down on the ground where you belong, and pick it up like the nasty whore you are.”

Priya didn’t move. She was afraid of him. He had hurt her before, but the circumstances that were her life didn’t allow her to escape him.

“Tomorrow, I’ll be back,” he promised her. “And if I find you dressed… I swear, I’ll fucking kill you.” With those words, he left the room, as quickly as he had entered it.

For the next few minutes, Priya didn’t move. She felt so empty, unloved, sad to a point where she felt like there were no more tears to cry. Finally, as she closed her eyes, a few of them rolled down her cheeks. But she knew that crying wouldn’t help her. It never did.

She eventually got up to pick up the money he had left her. At least, he had paid. On her knees, she tried to find it all. Priya looked around until she felt too tired to keep doing so. Most, at least, was found. The rest would turn up later.

She grabbed her nightdress to take a look, slightly sad about the fact that he had ripped it apart. In a way, wearing it had made her feel a little bit more protected. Protected from the men that came inside, and the things that she had to do for them.

Finally, she lied down on her bed, taking the scruffy white sheets to cover her body. Underneath, Priya closed her eyes and for a moment, everything was quiet. For a single moment, there was peace in a shattered world.

Then, she felt a hand on her shoulder, and almost had a heart attack.

“Priya. Baby. Are you here?”

Immediately, Priya sat up and pulled the sheets away. “…Mother?”

The woman wore a happy smile on a usually sad face. “Hello, beautiful.”

“…What are you doing here?”

She sat down next to her daughter on her bed. “I wanted to see you. See how you’re doing.”

Priya crossed her arms, the sheet covering her chest. “How the hell would I be doing? You sold me to fucking criminals.”

She faced the ground. There was a silence before she mumbled, “You know there was no other way…”

“What the fuck.”

The woman pouted. “Sweetie… No such words.”

“Are you fucking kidding me? You forced me to sell my own damn body to help keep this family alive!”

“I-”

“You know what I did to get this?” She grabbed the money from where she had put it.

“Yes. That breaks my heart. You know it does.”

“Here.” She gave her the cash. “Does that help you feel better?”

Her mother shook her head. “I want you to have it.”

“…Oh?”

With teary eyes, her mother reached out for Priya’s hand. “There’s hope coming.”

Priya frowned.

“Philippe will soon help us.”

The young woman laughed. “Sure, he will. Because Mr. Lacroix is such a good ass man.”

“Priya, be careful how you speak about my husband,” her mother warned. “He has had his problems in France. But he will soon send help, so that we can start over. He’ll get you out of here, I promise.”

“And the other girls and women trapped in this hellhole? He won’t do shit and you know it.”

“Excuse me, young lady,” she answered in anger, “but you can in no way expect Philippe to be able to stop the sex trafficking industry!”

Priya sighed. “Did you bring food? Water? Anything useful? Or only this shit talk?”

“What? Be grateful for once!” her mother cursed.

Priya gaped. “Grateful? You sold me into prostitution.”

“You should be grateful to have a family that loves you!” she snapped. “I have seen woman in this building who have nothing! Stop complaining! And stop insulting Philippe and your brothers! They have done nothing to deserve your hatred! I had to go through the same thing as you to support my family. And look at me. I’m alive! I’m healthy! And most importantly: I’m married!”

“To some guy you barely know who came here for whatever reason, and now is probably having fun with some whores in fucking France.”

Priya’s mother’s eyes widened. She got up, eyes set on her daughter. Then, she slapped her cheek!

Priya gaped. “Ow!”

Tears ran down her mother’s cheeks as she stated, “I just wanted the best for you. But I fear that you will never understand.”

The women’s eyes were locked for several moments – until Priya’s mother left the building.

He was lying in her arms, breathing heavily as he was recovering.

Priya was barely exhausted. “Well?”

“You never disappoint me, babygirl,” the man from a day ago said, smirking. “Seriously, you never disappoint me.”

“Can you get off me now? And pay me? You promised double.”

“Of course,” he answered casually. “But first I want to ask you something.”

“What?”

“How old are you?”

“…Twenty-four, why?”

Suddenly, he grinned. “That’s a beautiful age to be stuck in.”

“…What?”

He sat up slighty – and rammed his fangs into her throat!!

“Ahhh!”

He held her in place with no effort, tasted the sweetness of her blood… and pulled away.

Priya struggled against his grip, trying her best to escape. Her heart was racing. She was fearing for her life. “Help! Someone!”

“Don’t be scared, beautiful,” he told her, grinning. “Your time is now.” And with that, he bit himself, his sharp fangs causing his wrist to bleed – and fed her his blood.

Priya struggled hopelessly, almost choking on tears, his touch somehow making her unable to breathe. He said something to her, but she couldn’t hear it. The room was spinning – and suddenly, her world went dark.

Priya felt a cold hand grabbing her breast.

“Get up!” a voice demanded.

She opened her eyes, and saw the man from yesterday.

“Why the hell are you sleeping? I told you to be naked. And awake. Do you want that money at all?”

Priya felt a thirst she hadn’t felt in years. Without thinking, she jumped at him, aiming for his throat!

“Ahhh!”

Without mercy, she rammed her fangs into his throat, letting her instincts guide her. She didn’t know what she was or why this was happening – but the taste was incredible.

He struggled, wanting to get up, but she held him down effortlessly. “H-help!” he stuttered, feeling his blood being drained.

Finally fed, she stopped, and looked right at him. Then, she grabbed his collar, held him up with just a single hand – and threw him across the room!

“Ahhh!” His head hit the wall. He collapsed immediately.

Priya looked at her own hands, gaping. “What the fuck.”

He moved weakly, hoping to be able to escape the room by crawling out.

But Priya heard him. In a heartbeat, she was on him!

The man screamed. In his eyes, she saw a kind of fear she had never seen before. “Please don’t hurt me!” he begged.

She couldn’t help but laugh. “You little shit.” Again, she grabbed him by his collar and help him up.

The man was shaking. “W-what are you?”

“I’m your payback, you piece of shit.”

In the mood, she did the same thing again – and shamed his head against the wall. He found himself on the floor, barely conscious, blood running out of his nose, a hole in his head… “H-h-help…”

“Naww, you need help?” she asked, approaching him, her voice sweeter than he had ever heard it. “How about that?” She kicked him right where it hurts.

“Ah!”

“Does that help? I can do it again,” she announced, repeating it. Once, twice… until she didn’t hear his screams anymore.

Priya grabbed her plaything by his collar and turned him around – to see a face that was covered in blood, unconscious, a person that wasn’t breathing, had no pulse. “…Oh.”

She had killed him.

Priya couldn’t help but feel good about her victory. That asshole had abused her for years, now he had received his payback. She regretted not to have killed him in a more violent way, not to have gotten her powers any earlier.

Two things were clear. Firstly, she was in no way human. And secondly, she would never again let anyone treat her like an object.
