When I Hear Your Name
By Misha
Disclaimer- Not mine.
Author’s Notes- This is an angsty little fic that popped into my head. You can decide who is speaking at the beginning and end, honestly, I am not really sure. This is set after the ROD finale, my way of processing some of my feelings about it.
Pairing- Logan/MC
Summary- Who knew a name could be so common? Or so painful.
Word Count- 436
I let you go. I didn’t have a choice.
Fate decided that our paths were only meant to cross for a moment. But you changed me forever. And your name is forever seared into my heart.
Every time I hear it, no matter where I am or who says it, my heart skips a beat because all I can think of is you…

“You must be Lucy, I’m Logan!”
Lucy freezes at the sound of the name, sure she heard the perky redhead wrong. “Excuse me?”
She is aware she must look like an idiot, but the redhead just laughs. “I’m Logan, you’re new roommate.”
It’s a cosmic joke, it has to be. Still, Lucy pastes a smile on her face. “It’s nice to meet you… Logan,” she says, ignoring the stab of pain that accompanies the name. That name doesn’t belong to the cheerful girl in front of her, but to the bad boy who stole her heart and then broke it.
She wonders fleetingly how many times it’ll take before saying the name doesn’t hurt. Probably too many count, meaning she’s in for the longest year of her life.

“Lucy! Grande Mocha for Lucy!”
Logan knows it’s not his Lucy (was she ever really his?), she’s in another state, at college now, living the life she deserves. Yet, the sound of her name, still makes him look up.
It’s not a teenager with curious eyes and a smile that could light up the world that walks up to the counter, but a blonde in her 30s with a baby in a carrier. Logan turns away again.
He knows it’s not her, that it’ll never be her again. He’s making a point of staying far away from her. He disrupted her life enough, all he can do now is stay away and hope she stays safe. That she has the life he deserves.
Despite that, Logan knows that it will be a long time before he stops looking for her when he hears her name. That it’ll be even longer before he can hear her name without feeling like his heart is being ripped out of his chest.

I never knew how common your name was until now.
I swear I hear it everywhere I go and, I always look for you, but of course, it’s never you. It won’t be you ever again. I know that and I know why it has to be like that, but it doesn’t make it hurt any less.
When I hear your name, all I want is you and I don’t see that changing any time soon.
