Chapter 4: Reconciliation

Summary: Liam finally found her, but it seems like something is holding her back. Will he be able to convince her to come back?

After Liam returned to the hotel he takes his phone and looks onto the clock – 10Am. Liam sighs.

“It’s very late in Cordonia.” He shrugs and calls Regina anyway.

After a short ringing she picks up.

“Did something happen?“

“You have to make a speech for me. I will send you the speech in a couple of hours. And then please hold it for me, okay? And make sure it is shown in Honolulu on a local channel.”

Regina hums. “Okay, when will you send it?”

“Will be later, so you can sleep and when you wake up tomorrow I sent it you.”

“Okay, have you found her?”

“I did, that’s why the speech. Thank you Regina.”

“You are welcome!” Regina and Liam ends the call. Liam walks over to the small desk in the room and takes out his notebook to prepare the speech.

The next morning he wakes up and turns on the television and sees particular news he wanted to see.

“Cordonian former Queen Regina addresses her people in the name of the King. And it seems like the new Queen is in our country. Let us help to bring her back!“ Liam smiles and puts it on to look at the Speech.

Hello citizen of Cordonia,

Six month ago we stood here the last time to explain that Queen Victoria died in a car accident. Now the King asked me to make another speech in his name. Any further questions will be answered as soon as he comes back because I can’t answer any of them. I just hold the speech and read it out loud.

Me, King Liam of Cordonia give that speech to my mother because it can’t wait for me coming back. Six months ago I told you all Queen Victoria might be dead, died in a car accident. But I have to be honest, I lied. Not because I love to do that, no I lied because I was in pain. All the questions about Victoria made me feel sad. I knew it was my fault that I lost her, and the whole questions about her, made me realise what I did. I took the Queen away from Cordonia; I brought my wife to leave the town because I was rude.

I can’t tell you anything about the things that happened between us, because that are private moments, but I can tell you that I am sorry that I took the Queen from you and I lied about the death of her. She is not dead, she is out there in the U.S. where I took her from.

Don’t get her wrong, she didn’t want to leave Cordonia, it was me, who made her. She thinks of Cordonia as her home, she never wanted to leave that behind, and you all stole her heart, you are close to her and she always wanted to make sure you are happy.

All questions you have right now, will be answered in a separated speech, don’t worry. I will stay in front of you as soon as I can. But you will understand that I don’t want to return without our Victoria?

Sincerely

Your King Liam

The crowd erupts into applause.

“As my son said, as soon as he is back we reach out to you. For now, thank you for coming here.” The former Queen waves to them and leaves back into the palace.

Liam smiles and puts on fresh clothes and walks down to the beach again. As he walks down he can see her sitting in the sand. He doesn’t approach her, he just watches her.
He watches her new blond hair flying in the wind. She watches how she looks at something in her hand. He slowly approaches her but stops as soon as he can see what she is holding – the wedding photo of them.
Liam smiles because he is happy to see that she still has it. And that she watches at it the same like Liam.

“Will you only stare or sit down to me?“ Victoria suddenly speaks up and makes Liam jump.

“Uh.. yeah.” He sits down next to her and looks at the wedding photo in her hands.

“I still watch at it.“ She whispers.

“I do the same.” Liam chuckles lightly and looks away, down to the sand and plays with it.

He can see Victoria looking at him. “You look tired.“ She admits and strokes his cheek.

Liam looks up and at her. “Normal, when I looked for you for six month, lack of sleep because the bed is empty and cold. And the guilt -”

“You shouldn’t feel guilty. Everyone would have reacted like that. I am not angry at you Liam, not at all. I am angrier on me. After you told me to leave, I knew the night with Drake was a mistake. I knew I lost the man I love because of my stupid behaviour.”

Liam takes her hand and entwines their fingers. He looks down at her hands. “You aren’t wearing the ring anymore?”

Liam looks up, sadly at her. Victoria takes her other hand and pulls a necklace out of the pullover where her ring hangs on a silver chain.

“I don’t wear it on my finger, but I wear it close to my heart.”

Liam smiles and looks to the water. Victoria leans her head on his shoulder, and cuddles on his arm.

“How can you forgive me, Liam?”

Liam kisses her head. “Because I love you and I know that you regret it the moment I sent you away. I saw the pain in your eyes. I saw the guilt in your body language. And I hated myself for letting you go.”

Victoria moves her head up and looks up into his black eyes.

“You are way too good for this world. I can’t even forgive myself for what I’ve done.”

Liam looks down at her, their faces only inches away. “You should forgive yourself, because you were confused. And I mean you wanted to tell me, the moment you did it. Other woman put it aside and the man finds it out many years afterwards.”

“I needed to tell you, I couldn’t bear the guilt every time I looked into your happy face.”

Liam kisses her forehead. “I knew something was wrong, but I never thought it would be that.”

She leans her head back on his shoulder and he leans his head on hers.

Silence spreads out between them, not a uncomfortable silence, but a comfortable one.

“You look different with blond hair.” Liam breaks the silence, making Victoria giggles.

“You prefer me with brown hair huh?“ Victoria looks up at him again.

Liam looks to her too and stroke her hair behind her ear.

“I prefer you on my side.”

Victoria smiles and blushes. “But I really like your brown hair, it makes your hazel eyes coming out more.” Liam strokes her cheek.

“Then before we leave for Cordonia, I will change it again. I mean.. Not that I think you would take me, but I mean -“

Liam interrupts her with a kiss. Victoria melts into the kiss. She almost forgot how soft Liam’s lips are, how he tastes and how good it feels to kiss him.

As Liam breaks the kiss, she doesn’t open her eyes but hides her face into his shoulder.

Liam looks at her and strokes her hair, before he hears a sob. “Vicky?”

She cries even more. Liam takes her face into his hands, he moves into a different position.

Each of his legs are on her sides and he holds her between his legs, looking into her face.

“My love, what is it?”

“I am so happy you would take me back.”

“Of course I take you back. I love you Vicky. I will always do it. I told you yesterday, and I tell you today, and I will tell you tomorrow.” Liam strokes her cheeks.

She cuddles on him and makes him leaning back into the sand. She lies her head on his chest.

“Can I stay with you in the hotel?”
