Comfort

Disclaimer- Not mine. I’m just borrowing them for a little while and will return them unharmed when I am done.
Author’s Notes- This was one of the first requests I ever got, to do a Grace/Aleister fanfic with any prompt. I struggled with this because while I like them, I don’t actively ship them and don’t really connect with either character. This is set in between chapters 14 and 15 of Endless Summer Book 1 and explains why Aleister was in Grace’s room.
Pairing- Grace/Aleister
Rating- PG
Summary- Grace seeks comfort from Aleister as they wait for the pending battle.
Words- 359
“Aleister?” Grace asked hesitantly.
“Yes?”
“Do you think we’ll survive tomorrow?” She looked around the rooftop, no longer seeing any beauty in her surroundings. La Huerta was quickly becoming the ugliest place she had ever seen.
“The pragmatic side of me says no,” he answered, “but…”
“But…” She encouraged.
“For some reason, I can’t comprehend, I am beginning to have faith in our ability to survive.”
Coming from Aleister that was a ringing endorsement of faith and Grace began to smile. “Yeah…”
“Some of our companions are almost competent,” Aleister added, “and even Craig is good at hitting things.”
Grace laughed. “That he is.” She yawned.
“You should get some sleep,” Aleister told her immediately, “you’ll need it for the morning.”
Grace nodded and then hesitated. “Will you come with me?”
Aleister looked surprised.
“I just… I don’t want to be alone.” She admitted, biting her lip and waiting for rejection. But none came, instead, he nodded and held out his hand. She took it and together they headed towards the elevator. They rode in silence and walked towards her room.
“It’s eerie how empty this hotel is,” Grace comment as they walked down the hall.
“I actually enjoy the silence,” Aleister admitted, “if the environment wasn’t constantly trying to kill us, the isolation might be enjoyable.”
“I just want to go home,” Grace said quietly, opening the door to her room. They both stepped inside. Grace headed towards the bed but noticed Aleister hovering awkwardly by the door. “Are you coming?” She teased with a smile.
“Uh…” He said, looking from her to the bed.
“I… I want you to hold me.” Grace admitted nervously. “Unless… I mean, if you don’t mind.”
“No!” Aleister said quickly. “I mean, I don’t mind.” He smiled shyly. “I’d like that.”
They both took off their shoes and then climbed into the bed. Grace rested her head against his chest, feeling at peace for the first time since coming to La Huerta. Yes, they had no idea what the morning would bring and it was terrifying, but when she was with Aleister, it was easier to believe that everything would be ok.
