Summary: After escaping from Silas Prescott’s prison, Caleb and Alexandra team up in more ways than one.
What a night it had been. Imprisoned by Silas Prescott, her birth parents communicating with her through the Prism Gate and increasing her powers, escaping with Caleb, and now Caleb agreeing to join her team. Alexandra felt exhausted and overwhelmed.
As Caleb started to walk away, she realized that he hadn’t given her a way to contact him. She wasn’t about to go flying all over Northbridge hoping to spot him when she needed him. That would be a waste of time. She called out to him.
“Hey, Caleb, wait!”
Caleb turned around. “What?”
“How am I supposed to call you if I don’t have your number?” She reached for her phone and handed it to him. “Here, add yourself to my list of contacts.”
Caleb entered his number, then handed the phone back. “Never thought I’d see the day when I’d be giving you my number.”
“Yeah, well, it’s been one of those nights. I could use a drink.”
“Me too. I’m still feeling pretty stressed out.”
She smiled at Caleb. “Why don’t you join me?”
He shrugged. “Why not? There’s a bar…”
Before he could finish, she interrupted him. “We probably shouldn’t go somewhere public. Shrapnel may still be looking for us. We should be safe at my place, though.” She turned around so her back was towards him. “Grab on to me and hold on tight.”
“Huh?”
“Just do it. I can get us there quickly.” Caleb wrapped his arms around her, and she took off into the air, flying over the city. She was very aware of the feeling of Caleb’s body pressed close to hers.
Soon they reached her apartment. She took two glasses out of the cabinet, and she turned to Caleb. “What do you want to drink?”
“Got any mezcal?”
“I have tequila.” She carried the glasses and the bottle over to the coffee table, then sat down on the couch and poured the drinks. She handed one to Caleb, and soon they were feeling relaxed.
He looked over at her. “I can’t believe I’m sitting here drinking with a goody two-shoes like you.”
“I’m not a goody-two shoes!”
“Oh yeah? Prove it.”
She leaned in close to him and kissed him hard. As he returned the kiss, she pushed him down on the couch. She unzipped his leather jacket and ran her hands along her chest, while grinding her hips against his. She felt her heart racing as they moved against each other.
She gasped as he suddenly grabbed her hair and yanked it, pulling her up. “You want me?” he asked as he stared into her eyes.
Breathing heavily, all she could do was nod. He ripped off her mask and looked at her intently. “So I finally get a good look at you.”
“Oh, you’ll get a good look at me, all right.” She grabbed his arm and dragged him over to her bed. As he nibbled on her neck, she pulled off his jacket and flung it across the room. She lifted up his shirt and pulled it over his head, tossing it aside. Caleb grabbed her ass and lowered her onto the bed. She unzipped his pants and yanked them down, taking his underwear down with them. As he kicked off his boots and stepped out of his pants, he undid her suit and removed it. Now she was only in her bra and underpants. He roughly kissed his way down her chest as he unhooked her bra and slid it off. He squeezed her breasts as he took a nipple into his mouth.
She reached down and grasped his firm erection, fondling his balls at the same time. She felt his hand slip down her underpants, and she moaned as he rubbed her clit and put a finger inside her. With his other hand, he tugged on her panties, and she wriggled out of them.
He pinned her down on the bed and thrust himself inside her. She moved her hips and they quickly found a rhythm. She could feel the heat burning inside of her, and she raked her fingernails down his back. He began to groan, but the sound was silenced as he bit into her shoulder. As they moved faster, she felt like she was about to explode, and she started to cry out, louder and louder, until the flames rushed through her and burst. He pounded her harder and moaned as he slammed into her one last time, then came inside her.
As he rolled off her, she felt herself shaking. She reached over and stroked his hair, which was damp from sweat. “Wow. That was…intense.”
He nodded. “Yeah.”
They lay in bed, resting and regaining their strength, until she heard the sound of her phone. She climbed out of bed and reached for it, then read the text message from Poppy. Where are you? What happened?
She looked to Caleb. “My friends are worried about me. I’d better go find them. Why don’t you come with me? They’re helping out our team.”
Caleb shook his head. “I’ll pass. I’ve had enough of people for one day.”
They dressed and walked to the door of her apartment. As he prepared to step out, she wondered if she should kiss him goodbye. She wanted to, but she could sense his walls going up again.
He reached for the door. “I guess I’ll see you around.”
She looked at him and smiled. “Take care, Caleb.”
Things had certainly changed between them in the last couple of hours. They had gone from adversaries to allies, and perhaps more. One way or another, whenever she was with him, sparks were flying.
