Forever

Author’s Notes- LizEBoredom wrote a fic that ripped my heart out, but ended up inspiring me. This takes place during chapter one of Bloodbond III and is just a fluffy little piece that popped into my head.

Rating- PG

Summary- Jax and Lilith make a detour for something special before going back to the Shadow Den.

Pairing- Jax/MC

“We have to go back to the cemetery,” Jax said suddenly as we left Adrian’s office.

I raised an eyebrow. “Why in the world would we want to do that?”

I had no desire to go back there, the memory of clawing my own way out of my grave still so strong.

“You’ll see,” Jax told me, striding away.

I matched his step, surprised by how easy it was now. I kept expecting to run out of breath or stumble, but that didn’t happen. Instead, I followed Jax’s lead and we quickly made our way back to the cemetery.

To my grave.

“Planning on pushing me back in?” I asked, keeping a safe distance from the gaping hole in the ground.

Jax ignored me and to my shock, he hopped down into the hole. He started digging amongst the broken wood and then a moment later he let out a triumphant, “found it,” and leapt back up.

“Found what?” I asked and then my eyes widened as Jax handed me a stuffed elephant, “Esteban?”

“Lula insisted,” Jax told me, “she said Esteban would keep you safe and help you come back to us forevet.”

My heart swelled with love for the little vampire girl and I hugged the elephant right.

“She was right,” Jax said gruffly, pulling me into his arms, “you came back to us.”

“I did,” I agreed, nestling into his embrace. “Forever.”

It was a strange word, especially when applied to oneself, but not a bad one.

Jax held me for a minute longer and then released me. “We should go.”

I cast one last look at the empty grave, the fate I escaped, and then followed Jax. With my new speed and stamina it wasn’t long before we made it to the Shadow De, such as it was at the moment.

There were shouts of joy at the sight of me and people came to greet me and then…

“Miss Lilith!”

I crouched down as Lula came running to me and I pulled her into my arms, hugging her tight.

“I have something for you,” i told her, when I let her go, “thank you for lending him to me.”

Lula took Esteban with a shy smile, hugging him tightly. “I told Mr. Jax that Esteban would keep you safe. Esteban is the best. And now you can stay with us forever, right?”

I hugged Lula again and then smiled at Jax over her head. “Yep, now I can stay with you forever and there is no place I would rather be.”

It was true. While I still had to wrap my head around becoming a vampire, the idea of forever with Jax and Lula and the rest of his clan? It sounded really good. In fact, it sounded perfect.

And it felt like family.
