The sun was going down and Abella was sitting at her balcony watching it happen. The look warmed her body. After everything that had happened over the past year with filming, friends and Matt, it just seemed like the right time to relax by herself. Abella smiled at the though of everything Matt and her had been through together and she couldn’t wait for him to come over. She heard a knock on her door and rushed to it, opening it to see her beautiful boyfriend.
‘Hi love.’ She greeted him with a kiss to his cheek. He smiled weakly in response and gave her a soft and quiet “hi” in return. She shut the door and sat on the couch as Matt had already found a place on it. ‘What’s wrong?’ She asked carefully.
‘I uh, we need to talk Abella.’ he said seriously. She nodded her head and took his hands in hers.
‘You can tell me anything Mateo.’ She brushed away a strand of hair on his forehead, but he quickly grabbed her wrist pulling it away.
‘I love you, you know that right?’ Abella nodded slowly. ‘And you know I’d only ever do something to help you right?’ She nodded again not trusting her voice. ‘I also never hurt you on purpose.’ He added. She took her hands away, tears starting burn her eyes and her anxiety building up.
‘What did you do?’ She whispered, her voice cracking. Matt sighed before running his hand through his hair.
‘I didn’t do anything Abella. I just need to get something off my chest. It’s a secret I’ve been hiding for a while.’ She moved her head to the side and had a confused facial expression. ‘I uh, I got a part in a movie, but it’s in Greece.’
‘That’s not bad Matty, that’s amazing!’ She said with a smile on her face.
‘That’s not all Bella. I don’t know how to say this but,’ he took a breath and looked back in the eyes of his girlfriend. ‘When I leave, I don’t want to be in a relationship. I love you and all, but I seriously hate long distance. It would never work. I trust you my love, and you are able to trust me but, I just don’t know if when I leave, and I’m there for so long, I will still feel the same about you. I swear I‘m in love with you, but it’s never been easy. Not for me.’ His eyes were glossy, but hers were so far from glossy. Abella’s were blood red and tears flowed freely from her eyes.
‘It should be easy if you really loved me Matt! You shouldn’t even have those thoughts if you really cared for me! You wouldn’t doubt our love if you truly believed in it! But you don’t!’ She snapped the last part so harshly, it made them both flinch.
‘Abella—’
‘Get out Matt. Get out and never ever, come back. I’ve been hurt too many times to count. My mother was right, there’s always a bad guy behind a nice man. He can never be genuine.’ She said sniffling.
‘Abella, that’s not true.’ He was almost in tears now too.
‘My father was a beautiful man when he met my mother, but after my sister was born, when things got too hard, he left! Just like you’re doing now! I should trust you Matt, and I do, would, but I think you’re the one who can’t trust himself. Goodbye Matt.’ She said opening the door. Matt walked over and stopped. ‘I said goodbye.’ She snapped.
‘I hope you find someone who loves you. Genuinely.’ And he walked out.
