His Everything

His Everything

“One more push,” the doctor instructed.

Lucy groaned but did just that. She looked more beautiful than Logan had ever seen her before, tried and sweaty, but full of hope and determination.

“You can do this, babe,” he encouraged.

She gave a weak smile, squeezing his hand as she pushed.

And then a moment later, a loud, angry sounding cry filled the room.

Lucy looked exhausted but happier than he had ever seen her, her eyes filled with tears at the sound. She collapsed back on the pillow and Logan turned towards the sound of the crying, since they had all agreed that Logan would be the one to tell Lucy the sex of their baby, something they had resisted finding out. The doctor held the baby up so he could see and his own eyes filled with tears.

“Laura is here, babe, it’s a girl.”

A daughter. He had a daughter. She was red and currently very angry, but every bit as beautiful (and spirited) as her mother. And as she was laid on Lucy’s chest, she calmed down. Logan looked at the two of them, his wife and daughter, and felt like falling to his knees. They were his. After all those years on his own, never belonging anywhere, he had a family.

“I love you,” he whispered to them both, brushing a kiss across Lucy’s sweaty brow before doing the same for his daughter.

His wife beamed up at him, “we know and we love you too.” She sounded tired but blissful, happier than Logan had ever seen her as she snuggled their baby and he felt like he could just stay in that moment forever, watching the two woman he loved more than life itself.

His girls. His family. His everything,

Once he had nothing, but now… Now he had everything.
