Tippy’s Note: I wrote this fic immediately after BloodBound Chapter 4, inspired, of course by that feeding scene. I didn’t release it then because I wanted to see what would happen next, especially in terms of Lily. If I released the initial draft of this fic without knowing everything that we know now, it would have been different fic. Simpler and very straightforward but totally different.
To add a little more context, I kind of headcanon that the thing that makes the MC “special” in the BloodBound universe is that she has some kind of psychic abilities. I think those abilities come with precognition as well as possibly some imprinting (kind of like getting psychic info from objects as opposed to people). The part that I kind of wanted to explore if the MC forms psychic bonds with people she lets drink her blood.
Disclaimer: I don’t own any of these people. Just borrowing them.
After I came with Lily, I felt the adrenaline, the fear, the lust that was fueling me dissipate.
All the events of the evening overwhelmed my senses.
I escaped some horrible fate thanks to a handsome stranger that is also a vampire. I let a vampire feed from me for the first time.
Oh, and my best friend is now my lover…and also a vampire.
I half-heartedly washed my face but remained naked. I didn’t even bother to put on my loc scarf or pajamas and crashed into bed in Lily’s arms.
My sleep started in blackness like it did after my first day as Adrian’s assistant. Most of my sleep is like that. It’s something I prefer. Unlike that first day, I didn’t stay in blackness for long.
I found myself there again. Jax’s safehouse. I was alone. I trailed my fingers along the cold metal of one of the folding chairs as I got my bearings.
Aminah.
I froze as I heard my name. My heart beats a little faster.
Aminah.
I felt someone behind me. Their body was close. Without warning, I felt cold palms glide up my arms. I closed my eyes, enjoying the sensation. I don’t need to turn around to know who it is.
“Jax,” I breathed into the air.
A gust of wind whirled around me as Jax quickly went from my back to my front. He was just as delicious looking as I remembered.
“You just had to see me again,” he said with a chuckle.
“You didn’t have to come,” I retorted.
“I didn’t.” His eyes trailed my body from head to toe then he added, “I wanted to.”
My hand reached out to touch his face. He didn’t stop me. Like his hands, it was cold to the touch. Jax closed his eyes and leaned into my hand for a moment. My thumb caresses his cheek. Suddenly he pulled away.
“You shouldn’t be here,” he admonished. He turned away from me and paced. “I’m dangerous. Adrian wouldn’t like this.”
I took a step towards him. “I don’t care.”
“That I’m dangerous,” he slowly turned to face me. “Or that your boss doesn’t want you around someone like me?”
“I don’t care about either one of those things.”
Jax narrowed his eyes. “I am not looking for a groupie either,” he spat.
“I don’t want to be one,” I replied firmly, crossing my arms.
He took a step closer to me. “Then what do you want?”
“Right now?”
He nodded. I took a step closer to him.
“You.”
Jax and I stood in silence for a moment. Letting my admission hang in the air. I watched his chest rise and fall like he just did a run. It wasn’t until I brought my hands to my chest that I noticed was breathing hard too. Our eyes met, next thing I knew, we closed the distance between us. He held me close. I raked my finger through his hair to pull his face closer to mine. In the blink of an eye, Jax pinned me to the worn leather couch and kissed me the way he fed on me. Like he was a starving man, and I was a feast.
He may have been cold to the touch, but my body was alight with need. At that moment, if he wanted to devour me…I would let him.
Jax pulled away from me. His eyes that were dark with lust slowly took on a crimson hue, and his fangs descended. I closed my eyes anticipating the moment his fangs would pierce my skin. The brief pain becoming ecstasy. It never came.
When my eyes reopened, I was in Adrian’s guest suite. There is a different sensation on my neck. I tensed up. A voice whispered in my ear.
“Morning, sleepyhead.”
I turned into Lily’s kiss. She smiled as I deepened it. After a few moments, Lily pulled away.
“I heard you moaning in your sleep. It must have been an interesting dream.”
“It was.”
I did not lie or anything, I just didn’t tell her about the Jax part. Moral semantics are not immediately on my mind anyway. My hand cradled her nape as I kissed her again. Warmth and need coursed through my body as my hand trailed down Lily’s.
That was the first time I dreamt of Jax.
