Summary: Hana and MC (Riley) steal away a moment alone in the darkness.
Riley glanced at the large clock in the ballroom; it was nearly time. The ball was winding down and many of the nobles had already turned in for the night. Riley smirked at the thought of everyone going to bed simply to prepare for yet another party. She shook her head. Even after all these weeks here, everything still felt so surreal. She’d never imagined that her life could consist of this many parties, night after night.
Riley took a final swig of her champagne and set the empty glass on a nearby table. She turned to leave the ballroom and nearly crashed head first into Maxwell.
“Oh, hey, Riley!” he exclaimed, still dancing a little to the music although most of the other guests had given up. “You’re not leaving yet, are you?”
“Yeah, I am,” she said. “I’m pretty tired. You wore me out on the dance floor,” she teased. Maxwell grinned.
“What can I say? It takes stamina to keep up with me,” he joked. “Hey, before you go–I know Bertrand wanted to talk to you about tomorrow.”
“Can it wait? I really want to get out of these shoes,” Riley said, lifting up the hem of her dress to accentuate her point with the sharp stilettos underneath.
“Well … tell you what: go ahead and head up to your room so you can take off your shoes and get changed. I’ll tell Bertrand you went upstairs and we’ll just meet you there in a few minutes. Does that sound okay?” Maxwell asked.
“That sounds great,” Riley said, relieved. “I’ll see you in a few.”
Maxwell grinned and walked away, still shimmying a little to the music. Riley smiled and shook her head before leaving the ballroom, her heels clicking on the marble floor.
Once outside the ballroom, Riley started to run. The shoes were painfully pinching her feet, but the thought of missing her rendezvous was worse. She hurried up the stairs and down the twisting hallways, trying to remember the directions to the library. Left, right, another right, down the short stairs, then another left. Riley slipped on the last few steps and grasped frantically for the railing before slamming into the wall.
“Ow, shit,” Riley muttered, rubbing her elbow. She was never going to make it if she broke her stupid neck on the way.
“Riley?”
Riley looked up to see Hana peeking out of the library, looking concerned.
“Did you fall? Are you okay?” Hana asked.
“Yes, but I’m fine, I just hit my elbow,” Riley said, smiling at the sight of Hana. Hana returned her grin as Riley took the last few steps to the library, pulling the door shut behind them.
“I’m sure there’s a light switch in here,” Hana said, her fingers groping along the wall. Riley caught her fingers in the darkness and brought them to her lips.
“Leave it off,” she whispered.
Hana’s lips were on hers, soft, yet demanding. Riley ran her fingers through Hana’s silken hair and pulled her closer. Hana pressed her body against Riley’s, wrapping her arms around Riley’s waist. In turn, Riley trailed her fingertips down Hana’s throat and chest before coming to a stop on the swell of her breasts. Hana sighed softly at Riley’s touch.
“How long do we have?” Hana whispered as she ran the tip of her tongue along Riley’s earlobe.
“Pretty much none, I’m supposed to meet Maxwell and Bertrand in my room in a couple minutes,” Riley said, slipping one of the straps of Hana’s gown off her shoulder and tugging it down. She kissed Hana’s shoulder and let her lips drift lower, pulling at the gown until one of Hana’s breasts was exposed in the darkness. Hana arched her back and moaned softly as Riley kissed her delicate nipple, tracing it with her tongue.
“What about after?” Hana asked, cupping the back of Riley’s head as Riley sucked on her breast and bit it softly, teasingly.
“I’ll sneak away,” Riley promised, her voice slightly muffled by Hana’s flesh. “It’s been too long, I have to have you.”
Hana giggled.
“I came to your room early this morning,” she said. Riley picked up her head and kissed Hana full on the mouth, caressing her tongue with her own.
“Like I said,” Riley countered, feeling Hana’s smile against her own. “It’s been too long.”
Riley heard the rustle of fabric and then she felt Hana take her hand and place it between her legs. Riley felt a warm, intense longing pool in her abdomen when she felt how wet Hana already was.
“Miss Lee, you’re not wearing anything under your dress,” Riley said as she teased apart Hana’s wet folds with her fingers. Hana sighed and kissed her again.
“And I won’t be wearing anything later either,” Hana whispered. Riley slipped two fingers inside her and Hana moaned softly, rocking her hips against Riley’s hand. “I hate to be the responsible one, but the Beaumonts will be suspicious if you’re late.”
Riley groaned in frustration but she withdrew her fingers. She brought them up to her mouth and sucked on them audibly for Hana’s benefit in the dark library, relishing the taste of her on her fingers.
“I’ll make it up to you,” Riley said. “I promise.”
Hana kissed her again, a passionate, bruising kiss.
“I’ll be waiting.”
