Movie Date

Author’s note: So… I asked Ophelia’s help for Valentine’s Day and she gave me this idea… but then I had the idea for Video Call. But I did liked this plot and wanted to write it, so here’s Tom and Julia celebrating their first Valentine’s Day a little later! Hope you’ll enjoy it! Thank you so much, Phe @littlecrookedheart <3 I dedicate this fanfic to you.

Song: Never Enough – The Hunna

You know that it’s you
That I need around
And if you’re walking downtown
Then I’m coming ’round
For you, for you

Julia: “the plane has just landed! ;P”

Tom: “wooo then I guess we’ll finally see each other soon, huh?”

Julia: “you bet!”

The girl hits enter and yawns lazily, looking out of the small window of the plane. Although she feels tired after nearly six hours flying, she can’t contain her excitement and her heart pounding inside her chest.

It’s her first Valentine’s Day with Tom.

Okay, technically Valentine’s Day was two days ago, but she couldn’t take a flight and come to Oregon in the middle of the week, although she wanted to see her boyfriend so bad. They got to celebrate it on their own way… but it still wasn’t the same thing. She wanted to be with him.

So, Julia Vance took the first flight to Oregon that Saturday. It’s almost midday now and the weather’s nice; it’s finally getting less chilly and the sun shines shyly up in the sky.

She grins to herself, reminding her boyfriend’s surprise when she communicated him the night before about her completely crazy and impulsive decision to go there that weekend no matter what.

Julia: “Tom, you there?”

Tom: “Yo, what’s up? Just got home from uni. You okay?”

Julia: “Sooooo I had the craziest idea. I’m booking a seat in a plane at this right moment. To Hartfeld.”

Tom: “WHAT??!!!”

Julia: “Yeah! I’m flying to Massachusetts tomorrow morning! 😀 So we can celebrate our first Valentine’s Day together! With a couple days of delay only.”

Tom: “YOU COMING TO HARTFELD?!”

Julia: “Y E S XD”

Tom: “HOLY SHIT! I can’t believe it! I can’t wait to see you! When will you arrive?!”

Julia: “Around 2pm. Will you pick me up at the bus station?”

Tom: “I’ll be there ;)”

Julia checks again the time of her bus to Westchester. She has forty minutes of waiting, so she decides to eat something.

She eats her sandwich as she watched the people in the airport. People saying their goodbyes to one another. There’s a woman holding a giant bouquet of flowers, pacing anxiously near the arrival area, when her face suddenly lights up as she sees someone and waves to them. Seconds later, she’s reunited with whom Julia guesses to be her girlfriend, and the two women share an emotional embrace, laughing and kissing happily. Julia can’t hold back a smile as she watches the scene. Valentine’s Day might have already passed but love still is in the air.

Tom: “sorry! I’m running late!”

Julia: “don’t worry I still am in the bus. more than half an hour until we arrive”

Tom: “and until I see u!”

Julia: “and until I see u. If u don’t get late”

Tom: “I’m coming!”

She chuckles softly to herself and notices that Elliot left a message.

Elliot: “have you landed already?”

Julia: “yeah! Is everything fine, Scooter?”

Her little brother’s hanging out with some friends from school. Julia can’t believe he already is a high schooler. He’s growing up so fast!

Elliot: “yeah! We’re having lunch now. Pizza. Are u with Tom already?”

Julia: “no, still in this stupid slow bus! I can’t wait any longerrrrr”

The bus trip to Westchester is short, just an hour long, but it seems much longer. She’s just tired of sitting and waiting. She wants to see Tom now.

Elliot: “lol”

Elliot: “okay, have fun, we’re going to the movies now”

Julia: “u too, Scooter!”

She checks the time on her watch again.

Ugh, more 32 minutes.

“You know, it’s a bit dangerous sleeping outside your car like this.”

Tomoichi Sato’s eyes fly open at the sound of her voice and he swears his heart stops when he sees her standing right in front of him, a smirk on her lips.

“I wasn’t sleeping! Just resting my eyes!”

“Pfff right. Now kiss me, boyfriend.” – and she pulls him in by the collar of his hoodie, planting a kiss on his lips.

“It always feels so great kissing you.” – Tom says, a huge grin on his face, hugging her tightly. – “I can’t believe you’re really here! I missed you so much, pixie.”

“I missed you too.” – she lets out a contented sigh, resting her head on his shoulder, feeling comfortable and safe in his arms. After a few moments, they finally climb up on the car. – “So, what do you want to do? We can go to that arcade you like so much or—” – Julia stops short when she notices the sheepish smirk on her boyfriend’s lips.

“Actually…” –  he starts his old car engines. – “…while you were busy coming here… I busied myself by planning a date for us. A late Valentine’s Day date.”

“Oooh…”

“And this is why I almost got late to pick you up here.”

“And what are we going to do?” – he laughs to her impatience.

“You’ll see.”

Tom parks the car in his apartment complex garage. Julia knew her boyfriend well enough to know that he wouldn’t tell her a thing, even if she gave him those puppy dog eyes, so they chatted all the way there about everything else, even though they talked with each other daily through messages, so there weren’t exactly any new news. But it was so good just staying together with each, talking and laughing.

“Can you help me?” – Tom asks, opening the trunk of his car. Julia’s eyes widen at the sight of all those snacks there.

“Wow— are we throwing a party, Tomoichi Sato?” – he chuckles.

“I know, I bought too much food but I was nervous and wasn’t sure of what would you like to eat so… uh, I decide to pick everything. But I remembered that you love M&Ms!”

Julia shakes her head laughing as they unload the trunk.

Instead of taking the elevator to his apartment, Tom heads down the hallway. She follows him, more and more curious.

“Ta-daa!” – Tom says with a flourish, watching with satisfaction as his girlfriend’s jaw drops when she takes in on the sight in front of them.

There’s a huge movie screen – made of sheets – on the backyard and blankets and pillows on the grass in front of it.

“Tom… did you do all this?!”

He ticks a strand of hair behind his ear, his cheeks turning a shade pinker.

“Well… after you texted me last night telling me that you were coming for the weekend, I knew I wanted to make something special. But I’m short in cash and didn’t have enough time to plan anything bigger, and I know how much you love movies so… I thought ‘why not a movie date but at home but outside’? All I had to was this DIY outdoor movie screen and a smartphone projector (out of a shoebox). I just needed to buy a magnifying glass at the nearest hardware store because it was the only thing I didn’t have. Easy peasy.” – Julia still stares at him, speechless, and his blushes harder. – “I hope it’s not too much… or too simple…”

“Tom… It’s perfect!” – she gets on her toes to kiss his cheek, grinning with excitement. – “I can’t believe you had the time to do all this and still buy all these snacks and pick me up at the bus station!”

“Oh, making all this took me an hour max. The real challenge was persuading my neighbors to not throw their barbecue weekly party today.” – he rolls his eyes. – “See how much I love you, Vance?”

“Color me impressed. What have you had to do for them to agree?”

“Uh, I promised to buy beers for everyone for their next barbecue. And believe me, there’s a lot of beer involved.”

Julia lets out a loud laughter, before leaning in to kiss her boyfriend’s jaw again.

“Now, you should climb into your pillow fortress, my lady! We shall protect ourselves from our enemies!” – he stops short, looking down at the floor. – “Uh, I mean, this was supposed to be a pillow fortress… but it actually is just some blankets spread on the floor with a bunch of pillows on it. I didn’t have enough time to build the walls of it.”

Julia laughs loudly.

“Oh, thank you, my fair knight without a shining armor!” – she plays along, taking his hand, and he ‘helps’ her enter the ‘fortress’. – “And who would our enemies be, if I may ask?”

“Why, mosquitoes, of course, m’lady!” – she giggles as they both sit down.

“Tom, it’s too cold outside. I doubt there are any mosquitoes alive with this weather!”

“You clearly underestimate the resistance of a mosquito! Oh crap!” – he suddenly jumps. – “I forgot to make us some popcorns! While I’m on this duty, why don’t you pick what we should watch first?” – he throws his phone at her and rushes inside, leaving his laughing girlfriend alone.

She opens the Netflix app, knowing exactly what she wants to watch.

“No way! Atlantis: The Lost Empire?!” – Tom exclaims as he plops down on her side, a bowl full of fresh popcorn in his hands.

“Do you know it? This was my favorite Disney movie when I was a kid.”

“I thought it was Mulan.”

“Okay, this is my favorite underrated Disney movie.”

“Tell me about it. An underrated masterpiece! But I thought you’d pick a rom com. You know, something more Valentine’s Day themed.”

“Oh, don’t worry, Crazy Rich Asians is on the list.” – she grins at him, both of them lying comfortably on the soft pillows beneath them, her arms around his waist.

“‘List’, huh? What else’s in there?” – he asks, one of his arms around her shoulders. He puts the movie to play.

“I made a selection of our favorite movies, so: My Neighbor Totoro, CRA (like I already told you) and Back to the Future. I guess it’s enough, right? We don’t want to watch movies until our eyes start to bleed.” – Tom laughs.

“Yeah, we wouldn’t want it.”

In the end, some of Tom’s neighbors join the young couple and the movie date is a success, with people laughing and crying together with the movies, sharing snacks and drinks.

“This outside movie thing was a great idea, kid!” – a middle aged man speaks loudly, clearly drunk, patting Tom on his back, a little too hard. – “We should have this along with our weekly barbecue!”

“Thanks, Mr. Palmer…”

He walks back to the “pillow fortress”, where Julia is, with a bunch of kids around them. She accepts the beer he offers her.

“Julia, why this man looks like a crazy scientist?” – a little girl asks her.

“Because he’s a crazy scientist.” – she answers patiently, opening her beer can.

“Ooh…” – and the girl has her attention fully back onto the movie. Doc tells Marty McFly about his experiment with the DeLorean.

“Uh… it’s a little packed in here, isn’t it?” – Tom asks in a low voice, to not be heard. Julia chuckles.

“Understatement of the year.” – and she takes a sip of her drink.

“So, uh, what do you say we… get the hell out of here?” – she looks back at him, her eyebrow raised quizzically. – “I mean, no one will miss us… and you’re already going back to Oregon tomorrow… and it’s been months since we last saw each other and…” – Tom gets redder and redder as the words leave his mouth. – “Uh… I really missed you and… I can’t… stop thinking about that… video call we had on Thursday…”

A mischievous grin slowly spreads on Julia’s lips.

“Yeah… I can’t stop thinking about it too. But…” – she glances around them worriedly, everybody watching Steven Spielberg’s classical movie. – “Will we leave things here? Like this?”

“Yeah, why not? I can come pick them up tomorrow. It’s no big deal. And I can ask my neighbors to store my pillows and blankets in case it starts raining.”

“Well, since you seem so sure about it… let’s get the hell out of here, Tom.”

They finish their drinks and calmly stand up, his hands inside his jeans pockets and the girl fidgeting hers anxiously and excitedly, and they take turns saying their good nights to his neighbors. Tom swifty gets his phone back and a neighbor puts hers there on the projector and everyone has their attention back to the movie. None of them say anything while they head back inside the heated apartment building, leaving the cool night breeze outside. They steal glances and share sheepish smiles as they wait for the elevator.

When it finally arrives, Julia shoves him inside, pinning him against the elevator wall and plant a kiss on his sensitive neck, making Tom moan softly.

“Pixie… there are cameras in here.”

“I don’t give a fuck.” – she murmurs back at him, and her lips are on his, kissing him demandingly. Tom groans before deepening it, one of his hands burying in her hair, the other on the small of her back, pressing her against him.

They don’t stop kissing when they finally reach his floor, still lost in each other. Luckily, his apartment is the first one on the left. He manages to fish his keys inside his pockets and opens the door, with Julia still clinged onto him.

Tom closes the door of his apartment with a kick, his attention still fully focused on his petite girlfriend, his hands on her hips, keeping her tightly close to him.

“Tom…” – she moans when his lips starts kissing down her neck. – “…are you 100% sure there’s not a chance that Andy will show up in the middle of… you know?” – she asks, side glancing at the door they’ve had just closed. He lets out a laughter.

“Not a chance. Andy still is in Illinois for his college basketball games. Actually, they’d just finished playing their final game and are going back to the hotel to pack the bags. I just texted him. We got this place all for ourselves until tomorrow morning.”

“Good.” – she smiles approvingly before leaning in and kissing him on the lips, softly. – “I missed you, Tom.”

“Me too.” – he whispers back and kisses her more urgently. She grins against his lips and feels his hands roaming up from her hips to her face. – “You’ll think this is stupid, but I was counting the days until I could see you.”

“This is not stupid. I was doing the same thing. I just can’t get enough of you, Tom. There’s never enough time.” – her eyes lock with his. – “Every time we see each other, I just keep falling in love more and more with you.” – she pulls him in adamantly, biting his lower lip playfully.

“I love you, pixie.” – he kisses her back urgently, in response. Julia moans softly when she feels his cold hands beneath her shirt, squeezing the soft skin of her waist, trying to free her from her clothes.

They just stop kissing and touching each other long enough to take off their own clothes. Julia’s hands roam up his arms and chest, as if to memorize it, sending goosebumps throughout his body, while his hands brings her hips closer, until their bodies are pressed tightly together again.

“I want you. Now.” – he whispers, as if she couldn’t feel it, trailing kisses down her exposed collarbone.

“And what’s stopping you?” – she smirks devilishly before pushing him down onto the floor.

“Whoa!” – he exclaims in surprise, his girlfriend hovering over him. – “It’s cold.”

“Let me help you warm up…” – Tom gasps when Julia’s soft lips leave a trail of light kisses down his bare chest, to his stomach and lower…

“Julia…” – he shudders at her touch, his cheeks flushed due to shyness and excitement. – “Oh, fu—” – his back arcs involuntary when her hot mouth finds his length, both of them moaning. His hands fly to her head, his hips bucking against her throat, while her hands work with her mouth.

Her heart leaps inside her chest when Tom lets out a cry as his body is washed over by a overwhelming feeling.

“You’re so sexy, Tom.” – Julia crawls back on top of her boyfriend, whose chest rises and falls heavily. He’s grinning at her. – “Feeling warmer already?”

“You’re incredible, do you know it?” – he rests his hand behind her neck, pulling her to him.

“Always good to be reminded.” – she kisses him, melting into his embrace as his arms circle around her. – “Tom…?” – she looks quizzically at him when he gently lies her down on her back to the floor next to him.

“My time to pay you back.” – he smirks at her, his hand easily finding the sensitive hot and wet spot between her legs, making Julia promptly squeak.

“Oh…” – she closes her eyes, moaning as his fingers twirl against her, his lips on her neck and shoulders. Tom watches his girlfriend squirming as blush comes to her face, her nose wrinkling as he increases the pace of his wrist. There is that cute frown he’s crazy about. – “Nngh… so good…” – she murmurs, her body tensing in anticipation and pleasure.

The girl gasps when she feels her boyfriend’s lips and tongue down there where his hand was, sucking, kissing, tasting her, his hands on her soft tights. Suddenly, her legs muscles twitch, her body tightening, as light explodes behind her eyelids, both of them moaning.

“I love you…” – Tom whispers back into her ears, positioning himself behind her, already appropriately protected. Julia still feels her body tingling and heavy. – “I just can’t get enough of you.”

“Me neither…” – she cups his jaw with her hand and kisses him sweetly.

Tom sucks in his breath when he presses forward in her, a long moan escaping from Julia’s lips as she feels him filling her. He thrusts in her gently, leaving more fervent kisses on her bare shoulders and neck. She hides her face on the cold floor beneath them, muffling her moans, as they get louder when their bodies speed up, moving in sync.

“Tom… Tom…!” – Julia feels her head getting dizzier because of Tom’s own little whimpers. His calloused hands grip her hard by her hips, grinding her against him, their bodies gyrating together, faster and faster, pleasure building up inside both of them, until the tide is too much to handle.

When the room gets hot
I know you’ll always give it up
I can’t get enough of you
This feels so good
It feels so good
It’s up and it’s down
Was lost and I’m found
For you, and for you

A few moments later, they’re still tangled on the floor, catching on their breaths.

“I can’t believe we did it on the floor.” – Julia giggles, as he pecks the nape of her neck, his arms around her waist. – “We even didn’t reach your room.”

“I told you the floor is comfy!” – Tom replies back at her. He can feel her smaller and warm body vibrating with laughter against his chest.

“But not enough to sleep. I ain’t sleeping on the floor, Sato.”

“Uuuuugh…” – he whines, and she turns to face him. – “But it is so comfy in here!” – he slides his arm around her hips, pulling her even closer. – “Especially with you here…”

“Did you forget that Andy will be back in the morning? What if he catches us in here?”

“So? We just put some clothes on.”

“Nuh-uh, sir, I ain’t sleeping on the floor!” – she suddenly sits up and starts gathering her clothes scattered all around them. – “Feel free to stay here, but I’m going to sleep on a bed!”

An exaggerated pout surges on Tom’s lips.

“Would you really prefer leave your boyfriend sleeping all alone on the only night you have together, after months apart? You’re evil, Vance.”

“I’m not evil, I just prefer sleeping on a comfy bed and not on the cold floor!” – he sneezes. – “See? Now you’ll catch a cold! Get up, Sato!” – she pulls Tom up by his arm, letting out a surprised squeal when he wraps his arms around her.

“Mmm, you’re so warm.” – he murmurs, pressing her tightly against himself and she immediately melts into him. – “Uh… would you like to take a shower… with me…? You know, to save water…”

Even though the apartment is in the dark, Julia knows that her boyfriend blushes as he proposes this.

“You took a liking to taking showers together, huh?” – she grins at him, pulling his chin towards her and kissing him softly. – “Only if you promise me that we’ll be sleeping on your bed later, not on the floor.” – he chuckles.

“Yes, ma’am.”

I keep falling in love, I keep falling in love, I keep falling in love
It’s never enough, it’s never enough, it’s never enough
