summary: andy is a reaper that always finds some reason not to take magnus’ life and the other reapers (aka the rest of the gang obvs) start keeping a list of the most ridiculous things andy has said to justify sparing magnus
“I see him!” Lucas shouted jogging a few feet away from the rest of the group. “He’s near the tree!” He added as he rejoined his friends.
All of them turned around to look at Andy who was sulkily trailing behind them to buy himself some time. It was his job to do this but he just couldn’t bring himself to it. It was never a problem before – after all he’s not called the best for no reason. But then Magnus was assigned to him and everything he thought he knew and was good at, disappeared in the blink of an eye.
“Oh c’mon Kang. You have to do it already.” Ava sighed visibly annoyed.
“I know! I know.” Andy grumbled as he tightened his grip on the scythe.
He sighed deeply and move a few steps forward. The closer he was to Magnus the more sweaty his palms were getting. He swallowed hard and took a breath to somehow prepare himself.
But then, Magnus got up and turned around. He started looking around probably searching for something. When his gaze landed briefly on Andy he could swear his heart started beating again but Magnus obviously couldn’t see him. Andy noticed that Magnus looked worried. His brows were furrowed and there was this little pout on his lips. He kept looking down and after a few seconds, Andy finally followed his gaze only to see a little black puppy wrapped in, Andy assumed Magnus’ jean jacket.
And if it’d be possible, in that very moment, Andy would look like one of the characters from a cartoon when they see something super cute and the background behind the changes to millions of hearts, their eyes are suddenly ten times bigger and in a shape of a heart, their mouths are open and starts to make some weird noises and basically they can no longer think straight.
After he collected himself, Andy turned to his friends and started waving his arms to show them what’s going on.
“I can’t do it!” He screamed. “How can you expect me to took his life when he literally just saved the cutest little puppy?” He whined and run to them.
“This is ridiculous! You have to kill him, Andy! This is the seventh- i repeat THE SEVENTH time we’re here to make sure you’re gonna kill him.” Stacy scolded him. “He was supposed to be dead over a year ago!”
“But guuuys!” Andy pleaded. “He doesn’t deserve to die! Like you said Stacy this is the seventh time and with every single one of them, I’m more sure that he’s too good to die-”
“No, Andy. You’re just making excuses.” Lucas interrupted him. “The last time you were meant to execute him, you didn’t want to do that because he’s just got out of a hair salon and you said it’s not fair to kill him before everyone had a chance to see it.” Lucas reminded.
“Or even before that when you didn’t do it because he was studying for a big test he had the next day, the same one he’d failed miserably may I add.” Stacy pointed out.
“Oh my god! Do you guys remember when he couldn’t do it because when we got to Magnus he just got out of the shower and Andy ‘The Best Reaper of All Reapers’ just froze in place?” Ava sneered. “I thought I’ll die of laughter that one time.” She chuckled and the rest of joining her.
“Or when we came across him when his ex-girlfriend and he where in the middle of-”
“Okay, I get it!!” Andy barked making sure Ava wouldn’t finish her sentence.
“Oh, I was just getting started!” Ava laughed loudly. “These aren’t even on top of my list! Just wait until I’ll remind you of the toothbrush situation-”
“Guys, stop teasing him. It’s not his fault he has a crush on a human.” Lilly spoke for the first time since they’ve found Magnus.
“Thank you, Lily- Wait!” He gave her a side eye when she started giggling. “Wow I was expecting it from them but you Lily? That hurt!” He huffed.
“Hey you can always talk to the boss and ask to make Magnus a reaper as well and since you’re his favourite I’m sure he’ll say yes.” Stacy shrugged.
Before answering, Andy took a few seconds to think about it. It certainly was an option. He indeed was their boss’ favourite, he was aware of that but deep inside he knew this wouldn’t happen. Even if Connor would agree and Magnus would become a reaper just like he and his friends there would be one major obstacle. He’d kill Magnus and he was sure that, that was a total dealbreaker.
“No.” He mumbled finally. “I guess I’m just gonna do-”
“Where the hell is he?” Andy was interrupted, yet again, by Lucas.
All of them started looking around but there was no sign of Magnus anywhere. And even though Andy already decided he really has no choice and eventually he’d have to execute Magnus he was relieved that right now he was nowhere to be found. Because Andy would do anything in his power to stall his death as long as he could to buy him more time to live.
“Ugh. I guess the eighth time’s a charm, huh?” Stacy murmured, defeated.
“Yeah, I guess.” Andy agreed, smirking slightly.
