While everyone was busy prepping for the journey ahead, Lucy walked over to Damien who was staring out his office window.
“Hey, D… You got a minute?” She asked as she approached him.
“What’s up?” He asked without looking away.
Lucy tugged on his sleeve, getting his full attention. “We need to talk. Alone.”
“Uhh, sure. How about the roof?”
She nodded, letting him go and heading upstairs – not waiting to check if he was following her.
…
Damien opens the roof door, and sees her leaning on the railing, watching the busy streets. He hesitates – just looking at her, knowing that they can’t come back from this. He sighs, takes a deep breath, and joins her. They’re both quiet for a moment, trying to figure out the words to say.
Eventually, Lucy breaks the silence. “So… you said we’d talk about what happened at Eros.”
“I did…” He paused, not quite sure what to say.
She sighs, at turns to stare at him with an irritable look in her eyes.
“Is it true? Is what your file said true?”
Damien takes a deep breath and looks at her – unable to lie, “I-… yes. It’s true.”
Lucy turned back towards her city, closing her eyes. Her breathing was uneven, and her eyes started to water.
“How long?” She whispered.
“What?”
“How long were you keeping this from me!?” She shouted. Angry and confused, she stared at him and his eyes widened.
Shit… I made her cry. God, I’m such a dick.
“I- I mean… Fuck, I don’t know, Luce! A while… I’m sorry, please don’t cry…”
“Why didn’t you tell me?” She whispered, looking down.
“It… wouldn’t have made a difference.”
She looked at him shocked, “What?”
“It wouldn’t have changed anything! I can’t give you a life that you deserve. And, now you’re with Hayden…” He stares into her eyes, “Can you honestly tell me Hayden isn’t a perfect match for you? That they aren’t perfect? That you wouldn’t be-”
“Dammit, Damien! I don’t want perfect!”
She grabs him by the collar of his jacket, and pulls him into a passionate kiss. Pulling away slowly, Lucy stares into his eyes. She moves her hand to his face, caressing his cheek, and she whispers…
“I want you.”
