If I Could Turn Back Time (Liam)
I didn’t mean to hurt you
I didn’t want to see you go
I know I made you cry
If I could turn back time
If I could find a way
I’d take back those words that hurt you
And you’d stay
If I could reach the stars
I’d give ‘em all to you
Then you’d love me, love me, like used to do
If I could turn back time…words that ran through his mind over and over ever since the night of the coronation, he wished he had the power to change things, truly change things. He knew the moment he turned his back on her and chose Madeline that he had screwed up royally. He would do anything in his power to make things right, but he knew there was a huge chance that it wouldn’t be enough.
A Duke, another man, one he knew since he was a child, a man he genuinely liked was now moving in. He never had issues with Duke Perceval, he doesn’t know why he accused him of being a playboy, yes he does, because he’s trying anything he can to keep her. He knows that the Duke can give her everything he can’t, he’d be stupid to think there wasn’t a chance that she would choose him.
He couldn’t blame her, not really, this was all his fault, he pushed her away. She had every right to run to the comforting arms of another man, he didn’t belong to her, not really, not the way he wanted. It was his fault all his fault.
He wished he had been stronger, been able to stand up and speak the truth and chosen her anyway. Oh, he’d been a coward, claiming he’d done what he’d to protect her, when in truth he was protect himself. He was nothing but a fucking coward, and all he did was make things worse.
Some of the things he’d said were cruel, the things he’s allowed Madeline to say and do were even worse. He had been hurt and lashed out, he hasn’t meant any of it. Madeline knew where his heart lay and felt threatened, but he shouldn’t have let her behave that way, he should have shut her down sooner.
There is one more thing he can do to prove what she means to him, it’s a risk, he knows this, he could still lose. If any of this has taught him anything it would be that it’s better to risk everything to gain everything than lose everything because he did nothing. So he’d do it, he’d risk everything, he just hoped he wasn’t too late.
Just to See Her Smile (Percy)
When you said time was all you really needed
I walked away and let you have your space
Cause leavin’ didn’t hurt me near as badly
As the tears I saw rollin’ down your face
And yesterday I knew just what you wanted
When you came walkin’ up to me with him
So I told you that I was happy for you
And given the chance I’d lie again
Just to see you smile
I’d do anything
That you wanted me to
And all is said and done
I’d never count the cost
It’s worth all that’s lost
Just to see you smile
All he wanted was to see her smile, he didn’t care if in the end he ended up broken apart, all that mattered was that she was happy. He found her broken by another man and was instantly taken with her, he knew the risk he was taking, but he didn’t care. He’d waited so long to find love he would risk his heart a million times for her. He took a chance, the first time ever that he ever really took a chance on love. He would do it over and over again, if it meant spending time with her.
He took her broken heart and helped piece it back together, he made her smile again and again. He made her laugh, she made him finally feel whole, like he had a chance to actually be happy. He knew she was in love with the king, he knew he was risking his heart, risking it all, but he didn’t care.
She made him feel for the first time in forever, she made all the possible pain worth it when she smiled. Just to see her smile, he loved to see her smile, he made it his mission to make her smile. He’d so anything just to see that gorgeous smile. The way her face lit up, her eyes shone, he couldn’t get enough of her smiling face.
When he met her all she did was cry, but now she smiled almost all the time, because of him. He knew she could still choose the king, he wasn’t stupid, but that didn’t stop him. Nothing could have stopped him falling for her, falling deeper. He knew the king was slowly winning her back, but he’d never be able to be there for her the way he could. He only hoped the time he spent with her was enough to make her fall as deeply for him as he had for her. Even if she didn’t love him as much, even if she left him, the time he’d spent with her would be enough. Any pain he felt would be enough, as long as he got to see her smile.
Always Him (Athena)
If red roses weren’t so lovely,
Wine didn’t taste so good,
Stars weren’t so romantic,
Then I could do what I should.
Oh you, it’s always you,
It’s always you.
Oh you, it’s always you,
It’s always you
If you love, I could command it,
Get your head, to understand it,
I’d go twice, around the world,
Even though, I may not find it.
Oh you, it’s always you,
It’s always you.
You, it’s always you,
It’s always you.
Round and round she went over it in her head, she needed to choose, she needed to make a decision, before she heard the results. That was the only way she’d ever be able to choose. She just couldn’t choose otherwise, they both held a piece of her heart.
She started visualizing the family she could have, who did she want by her side, him. Who did she wish would be the father if she was, him. Who could she see spending her life with, him. No matter how many times she went through it in her head the answer always rang the same, him.
No matter what she pictured, no matter what question she asked, the answer was always him, always him. She kept asking, driving herself crazy, like she hoped for a different answer, but she knew deep in her heart that the answer would always be him. She would always want him.
She should have known sooner, he made her feel things she never thought she could. Him, always him. She could never get enough time with him, the minutes never felt long enough. Him, always him.
Her heart felt fuller when she thought of him, always him.
It would always be him, it always was him.
When her mind would wander late at night, it was him, always him.
When she’d wake up in the morning the first thought would be him, always him.
Her last thought every night as she drifted off to sleep, him, always him.
She felt stupid that it took her so long to see that it would always be him.
Oh, how did it take her so long to see the truth that lay in her heart? Him, always him. It would always be him.
