Summary: On the night before the final confrontation with Eros, Damien and MC (Nina) take advantage of some time alone. A reimagining of part of the latest PM chapter.
Nina knows exactly why Nadia enthusiastically asks Sloane to join her outside in the tent.
“I like tents!” Nadia insists. “And she has all the good snacks.”
Nina rolls her eyes. “Nadia, have you ever even been in a tent? And not one of those bouncy castle things we used as kids.”
Nadia ignores her, pointedly scooping up a handful of candy bars and a bag of chips. She shoots Nina a grin and a failed wink as she and Sloane head outside. “Have fun!” Nadia mouths.
Nina laughs and shakes her head.
“She is ridiculous,” she declares to Damien.
Damien grins. “She is. But that’s why we love her.”
He tilts his head towards a corner of the facility, where he’s piled up a stack of blankets and pillows.
“Sloane shut down all the security cameras once we got here, but none of them reach that spot. Just in case,” he explains.
Nina smirks, following after him. “‘Just in case’?” What exactly do you have planned?”
He turns, and her smirk drops instantly at the heat burning in his eyes. “That depends, Nina. What do you want?”
Nina bites back a groan. Damn him. She’s about to tell him how unfair he’s being, flirting and dropping innuendo and kissing her and then saying they have to go inside, but instead decides two can play at that game. She shrugs nonchalantly, stepping closer.
“That depends,” she replies a little cheekily, firing his words back at him.
She walks her fingers up his stomach, fiddling with the buttons on his shirt. Damien stares down at her, his hands going to her hips. Nina rises on her toes, looping her arms around his neck.
“What are you offering?” she breathes in his ear, and delights in his quiet groan.
“Anything you want,” he answers huskily.
“Mmm. Let me think…”
A shriek slips out of her mouth when he suddenly hauls her up against him, then lowers them to the blankets spread out on the floor. She yanks impatiently at his jacket and his shirt until he takes them off, then pulls her own shirt over her head. Damien grins when she insistently tugs him back down over her.
“Patience is a virtue, Nina,” he says.
Nina raises an eyebrow. “You started this. And you said I could have whatever I want.”
“I did,” he agrees, bending his head to suck at her pulse point.
She yelps quietly when he gently bites her neck.
“Did you decide what you want?” Damien asks her.
His lips and his hands are so distracting that she doesn’t answer at first, nearly dizzy with how he’s making her feel.
“Nina,” he rumbles in her ear.
“Huh?” she pants, fumbling with his belt.
She moans when she finally gets it and his pants undone and slips her hand beneath his waistband. Damien hardens and jerks against her.
“Tell me what you want,” he nearly growls in her ear.
“You. Now,” she gets out.
They struggle out of the rest of their clothing, impatience and desire making their movements halting and uncoordinated. Nina laughs, half in frustration, when her pants button snags on a thread. Of course. Damien pushes her hands aside, pulling gently at the thread until it’s untangled. His lips are warm on her bare stomach while he works.
Finally, he hovers over her again, nothing between them. This is different than the first time. She can feel it. All she wants is to go home. She’s trying to remain positive. But there’s a desperation in her movements that wasn’t there before when she arches into Damien and wraps her legs around him.
“Oh,” she moans when he presses into her. “I…Damien…”
Damien thrusts into her, his hips slamming into hers, and she inhales sharply, closing her eyes and throwing her head back. He stops moving suddenly.
“Look at me, baby,” he commands her, and Nina groans, forcing her eyes back open.
His eyes burn into hers, and he laces one of his hands with hers, pinning it over her head.
“Say that again,” she pleads, and Damien chuckles low in his throat.
“Baby?”
Nina usually hates pet names, with a passion. But the sound of Damien calling her baby has her nearly coming undone. He brings his lips to hers, kissing her insistently and increasing his rhythm, moving harder, faster, his fingers squeezing hers.
“Yeah. That,” she gasps.
He tilts his head down to her ear and says it again, a “Do you have any idea what you do to me, baby?”, and it makes her dig her free hand into his back. Damien hisses slightly, and she eases up.
“Your fault,” she murmurs, and he nips at her lower lip in retaliation.
“You asked for it,” he retorts, and she laughs breathlessly, then pushes at his shoulder until he rolls to his back.
Nina bites her lip, taking him in, then slowly, teasingly, straddles him. He curses under his breath, twitching against her thigh when she settles over him. Damien squeezes her hips, then traces a line from her thighs to her breasts, cupping their weight in his hands.
A hint of a grin passes over his face when he runs the slightly calloused pads of his thumbs over her nipples and she shudders a little at the sensation. Nina narrows her eyes at his expression, then very slowly and deliberately shifts her hips back and forth over him. He curses under his breath but doesn’t stop her.
“I thought you wanted me,” he finally says with a wry smile.
“Oh, I do,” she reassures him. “I just want this to last.”
She says it teasingly, but she knows Damien hears the slight tremble in her voice. His face softens, and he reaches up to cup her cheek.
“Hey,” he says quietly.
Damien wraps his arms around her and sits up. He captures her lips with his, holding her face between his hands.
“We’re going home,” he says firmly, his voice a little gruff. “Okay? I’m getting us home.”
“You’d better,” she murmurs, threading her hands into his hair. “You have four years of missed time to make up for.”
Damien grins. “I know I do, Nina. I will.”
She nudges him to lay back down and sinks on to him, her fingers flexing into his chest as they move together. Nina groans his name when he thrusts up into her, and his eyes grow impossibly darker before he pulls her down across his chest.
“Damien,” she moans. “You feel…please…”
Nina presses the side of her face to his, her fingers tugging at his hair. She rambles incoherently, gasping and moaning, her breathing rapid, until Damien grinds her hips down on to his. His thrusts grow shallow and sloppy, and it pushes her over the edge, her eyes slamming closed and her every muscle tensing before she drops against his chest.
Nina sighs his name into his neck, softly kissing his flushed skin, and he groans, stiffening against her. When he relaxes, sinking into the blankets, she lazily lifts her head up to brush her lips over his.
“Mm,” she hums. “That…was a great start to making up for lost time.”
Damien laughs. They slowly shift until they’re lying face to face, and he pulls a blanket up over them. The air quickly cools her sweat-slicked skin, and she shivers. Damien tucks her closer to him, pressing a kiss to the top of her head.
“I’m holding you to that promise, you know,” she says just before they fall asleep. “I don’t want to be stuck in this frozen tundra.”
“You won’t,” Damien murmurs. “I promise. We’ll be back in New York and you’ll be inhaling caffeine and getting flipped off by crazy drivers again before you know it.”
Nina cracks an eye open. “I could do without the bad drivers.”
Damien chuckles, tilting her chin up to kiss her sweetly. “Go to sleep, Nina. I’ll be right here.”
Oy vey. That was steamy and perfect and my heart melted at the tenderness too. Loved it!
