The First Snow – Beckett x MC

Summary: When the first snow of the season falls, MC (Lana) convinces Beckett to take a break and enjoy the weather.

Notes: We finally got our first real snowfall in my town, so I couldn’t resist!

“It’s snowing!” Lana exclaimed when she pulled back the curtain of her room. Beckett glanced up from where he was reading a book in her bed, eyebrow raised.

“So?” he asked.

“So, it’s snowing!” Lana said, jumping back on the bed beside him. “Come on, it’s exciting!”

“Weather doesn’t exactly thrill me like it does you,” Beckett said, a small, amused smile on his lips.

“Oh come on, grumpy pants, it’s the first snow of the season. We have to do something!” she insisted.

“I am doing something,” Beckett said. “I’m studying so I can write that paper for Professor Kontos.”

Lana narrowed her eyes at him before she snatched the book and tossed it across the room where it hit the wall with a thump.

“Hey!” he protested. “We don’t throw books!”

Lana grinned as she straddled him on the bed. Beckett couldn’t help but smile as he ran his hands up her thighs to her waist. He still couldn’t believe she wanted to be with him and he never tired of touching her.

“I’m very sorry, Mr. Harrington,” she said coyly. She leaned in close, her icy blonde hair brushing his face as she brought her lips close to his, not quite touching.

“I suppose I forgive you,” he said, leaning forward to close the distance between them, but she pulled back just out of his reach.

“Oh, I’m not sorry for the book” she said as she took his face in her hands, bringing herself close to him again. He desperately wanted to kiss her but she kept him at bay so he settled for sliding his hands up from her waist to her rib cage, the sides of his thumbs brushing her breasts through the thin t-shirt she wore. “I’m sorry you have a giant stick up your ass and don’t want to enjoy the first snow of the season!” she exclaimed as she suddenly darted away from him, rolling across the bed before coming to stand on the floor.

“Oh, come on!” Beckett protested with a groan. “That’s not fair!”

“How about I make you a deal,” Lana said. “You go on a walk in the snow with me and I’ll help you write your paper.”

“Don’t you have to write a paper for him, too?”

“Fine, we’ll have a very boring afternoon filled with nothing but homework if you come with me right now.”

Beckett looked at her, taking in the way she bit her lip and her eyes sparkled as she stared at him expectantly. They’d only been seeing each other for a few months, but he already knew he wasn’t able to deny her anything. He was a goner.

“Deal.”

Lana clapped her hands victoriously. “Alright, Harrington, get your cute butt out of bed. Let’s go!”

“Explain to me again the appeal of walking around when it’s freezing outside,” Beckett said as they strolled through campus, gloved fingers wound together.

“Because it’s beautiful out here,” Lana said, as if the answer was obvious. “Plus, it’s invigorating; the cold breeze, the crunch of snow beneath your boots. I love it.”

And I love you. Beckett squeezed his lips together, holding the words back inside his mouth. He couldn’t say that to her, not yet. She’d think he was nuts. Then again, she was the one who wanted to defy logic and walk around in the snow. Lana noticed his facial expression and thought he was grimacing.

“Come on, you have to admit the school looks pretty in the snow,” she prodded.

“It does,” he capitulated, giving into her enthusiasm. “And so do you.”

His face immediately flamed with an embarrassed blush as soon as the words left his mouth. God that was corny. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see her turn her head towards him, but he couldn’t bring himself to make eye contact with her. Around them a small flurry of snowflakes began to fall from the sky. Beckett dared a glance in her direction and felt suddenly warmed by the way Lana was looking at him, her eyes soft.

“Hey,” she said as she stopped walking, tugging his hand so he’d face her. Lana rose up on her tiptoes and cupped his face in her hands, kissing him gently. Her nose was cold against his but her lips were warm and Beckett couldn’t help but smile as he kissed her.

“You gotta admit, this is worth the study break,” Lana said when she pulled away, squeezing his hand. Beckett pulled of one of her gloves and then his own before he folded his fingers between hers and tucked their joined hands in his coat pocket.

“Yeah,” he admitted as they started walking again, an embarrassingly big smile still stretched across his face. “It was.”
