The No Super Power Rule

Author’s Notes- I’m trying to get all my Grayson/MC requests done before next week’s Hero finale because I’m expecting finale-related writer’s block. This is a short, fluffy piece set several years in the future. It’s a response to the prompt “height difference kisses where one person has to bend down and the other is on their tippy toes”.
Pairing- Grayson/MC
Rating- PG
Summary- Grayson catches Lexi breaking one of the house rules.

I stared at the top shelf, or more specifically the platter I needed that was on that shelf. The platter that I couldn’t reach unless I went and got a ladder or… An idea occurred to me and I looked around to make sure I was alone and then I slowly raised myself off the ground and towards the item in question.
“Ahem,” I heard a cough behind me and immediately dropped to my feet, the platter cradled to my chest. I turned to see my husband leaning against the doorway watching me.
“I thought we had a no super powers at home rule,” he reminded me.
I blushed, “I needed this platter for the party and I don’t know how it got up there and I couldn’t reach so…”
“You sound like Max,” Grayson teased, referring to our 7 year-old, “he always a million explanations for everything.”
“Are you comparing me to a second grader?” I asked, putting the platter down on the counter, and then walking over to Grayson.
“If it fits,” he said with a smile, “you know you could have come and gotten me. I was probably the one that put it up there in the first place.”
“It definitely wasn’t me,” I admitted, though really the shelf was a good place for the giant platter that we only used a few times a year. “And hey, my solution worked and it’s not like the kids are home to see.”
“Uh huh,” Grayson commented but I could tell he was amused than anything. “I guess it’s not your fault, you’re short.”
“Hey, I can lift you over my head without breaking a sweat,” I reminded him with a faux-glare.
“Which is hot,” he said with a grin, “but you’re still short.”
He wrapped an arm around me, pulling him against me, “however I don’t mind, because you fit so well in my arms. Even if I do have to bend down to kiss you.”
As the words left his mouth, I instinctively raised myself to my tiptoes as he lowered his head and our mouths met in a sweet kiss. I wrapped my arms around his neck, pressing myself against him.
“The kids won’t be home for a few more hours,” Grayson whispered against my lips, his hand resting on my back.
“We should definitely take advantage of that,” I agreed, smiling up at him.
I had some preparation I needed to do for the party that we were hosting that night, but it could wait a little longer while I stole some precious alone time with my husband.
