Author’s Notes- All those DJ Cotrona gifs are working wonders on my Diavolos muse. This is a response to a request for “one small kiss, pulling away for an instant, then devouring each other.”

Pairing- Kenna/Diavolos

Summary- Some idle talk has Diavolos questioning Kenna’s motives for marrying him and she goes out of her way to prove her devotion.

Words- 1710

“Why did you marry me?”

Kenna stops undressing to turn to her husband, confused by the question. “Hmmmm?”

“Why did you marry me?” Diavolos asks again, his expression unreadable.

Kenna studies his face, wondering where the question came from. She and Diavolos have been married for almost six months now and they had been deliriously happy for that entire time. So why was he suddenly questioning her motives?

“Did someone say something?” Kenna asks with narrowed eyes. They were in Bellemere for the first of many talks about integrating the Fire tribes as a sixth kingdom, as well as the new trade with Ducitoria. The meetings are tedious and the social obligations even more so, but Kenna knows it was part of what came with being queen, besides at least Diavolos is there to share it with her.

“I overheard some talk tonight,” he admits, his stance tense, “about how practical a marriage you made, securing the loyalty of Abanthus and eliminating the risk of future uprisings.”

Kenna’s jaw clenches, wondering who it was that speculated about her marriage like that.

“I didn’t marry you for an alliance,” Kenna assures him and then pauses, wanting to be 100% honest with. If this is an issue, she wants to have all their cards on the table. “Or at least that wasn’t the main reason.”

It was part of it though. The fact that he was the best political match made it easier to admit her feelings for him and to give into her powerful, overwhelming need for him. It had been what had made her secure that she could keep him, unlike her previous lovers.

“But it was part of it,” Diavolos says quietly, studying her.

“Of course it was,” Kenna tells him with a shrug, “I’m a Queen, I always have to think about what’s best for my people. You’re telling me that the fact that marriage to me secured your claim to Abanthus didn’t come into it at all?”

He hesitates and she can see him acknowledge her point, though he stays silent.

“That’s what I thought,” Kenna says, moving so she’s standing right in front of him, her hand resting on his bare chest. “I married you for three reasons,” she tells him, gazing up at him, I married you because the queen in me had found her king. Someone I could share the burden of ruling with, who would make a good alliance and be the right choice for my people.”

Diavolos nods, but the expression on his face is still unreadable.

“I married you because the warrior in me found a kindred spirit,”  Kenna continues, “Someone who understood the hardships of war and the sacrifices that have to be made.” Her hands trace the scars on his chest as she talks. “But most of all, I married you because the woman in me needed you. No one else has ever made me feel the way you do. One look at you and I wanted you. The first time I kissed you, I knew I wouldn’t be able to walk away and the first time you made love to me, I knew I’d be yours forever.”

Diavolos’s eyes soften and she can see the emotion there. “Kenna…”

“I married you because you were the first man to appeal to all three sides of me,” she tells him, “not just one aspect of my personality, but all of them. You were exactly what I wanted and what I needed.” She wraps her arms around his neck. “You are my everything.”

“Kenna…” He says again and then shakes his head, “sometimes I still can’t believe that you love me. That anyone could love me, especially someone as incredible as you.”

Kenna’s expression softens. She knows the childhood that Diavolos has, the emotional scars left by a cruel and neglectful father (and if Luther wasn’t already dead, she’d happily kill him), and she knows that she can’t erase all that overnight.

All she can do is love him. She places her lips against his in a soft kiss. She pulls back for a second, to assure him of her love, but before she can speak his mouth is on hers and his kiss is deep and demanding. His tongue is pushing her mouth open, seeking entry, his hands are running all over her mostly-nude body as if he wants to lose herself in her and for a moment Kenna goes with it.

She kisses him back with equal heat, pressing her body as close to his as physically possible and then she pulls away, pushing him back slightly. She can see the confusion on his face as she takes his hand, leading him to the bed. Diavolos follows willingly, but as soon as he’s seated he reaches for her and Kenna shakes her head.

“I’ve told you how I feel,” she says quietly, “but we both know actions mean more, so I’m going to show you. Show you why I chose you.”

“Kenna…” Diavolos breathes and she can see the pure longing on his face and it sends a satisfied thrill straight through her.

She will never over the way this man wants her. She reaches for the tie of his pants, undoing it and then easing them down off his hips. Kenna allows herself to drink in the sight of him before dropping to her knees in front of. He’s already halfway there and she delights in the way he instantly hardens under her touch.

“My love…”

“Yes,” she agrees, “I am your love and you are mine and I should show you how much I love you.” She lowers her mouth to his thigh, placing kisses on the sensitive skin while continuing to palm his length.

Diavolos groans beneath her. “Kenna…”

“You are also my king,” she continues, her mouth moving higher, pausing to lick his groin, enjoying the sound he made, “and I feel like I should show you proper tribute.” She places kisses along his length, her hand still stroking it. “And you are the fiercest warrior I know,” she adds before licking the length of him which makes him dig his hands into her hair, “which means you deserve to be rewarded.”

She opens her mouth for him then, taking all of him, her hands gripping his thighs.

Diavolos lets out deep guttural sound as he thrusts his hips into her mouth, his hands gripping her head. “Gods Kenna,” he mutters, “you feel so good…”

Kenna continues to suck at him, taking pleasure in the way he moves beneath her, obviously close to the edge, until he thrusts her away from him forcefully. Diavolos tugs her remaining undergarments off of her and onto the floor and then immediately pulls her onto the bed and urges her onto her knees.

“Hells, I need you,” he whispers hoarsely against her neck, the weight of his body pressing into hers.

“Take what you need,” Kenna encourages, “I am yours.”

And she was. As much as she likes taking her time with him, she also loves it when he takes control. She’s always been incredibly attracted to Diavolos’s dominant, forceful side and the way he knows just how much to take and how to give her exactly what she wants, what she needs.

He teases a hand between her thighs, delving into her slick folds. “So wet for me already,” he comments, “is this what you want, my love? Do you want me to take you?”

“Yes,” she gasps, arching her hips into his hand.

Diavolos teases her for a moment longer, obviously wanting to make sure she’s good and ready, and then he moves his hands to her hips, steadying her, before he slams into her, causing her to gasp and grab the pillows. Kenna digs her fingers into the pillows as Diavolos pounds into her, the sensation threatening to overwhelm her.

“You feel so good,” he tells her as his hands move from her hips to her breasts, caressing her, “my fierce warrior queen, my beautiful wife. All mine.”

“All yours,” she agrees with a happy sigh, arching her back into him. He continues to thrust in and out of her at a dizzying pace, his one hand drifting from her breasts to her sensitive nub, to urge her along. It works because soon she’s gasping and panting as waves of pleasures overwhelm her.

“Diavolos,” Kenna sobs as she comes, clenching around him.

“That’s it, baby,” he encourages, pressing kisses along her jaw, “say my name, let me hear the effect I have on you.”

Kenna just keeps sobbing his name, clutching at the pillow and clenching around him. Diavolos continues to move within her through her high and as she’s coming down, she can feel him reaching hers. “Oh Kenna, my love,” he cries, his hands on her hips once more as he slams into her one last time before spilling himself inside of her.

She can feel him shudder and then collapse against her, his chest pressed into her back. It’s not the most comfortable position, but Kenna isn’t in a rush to move either because she likes feeling connected to him.

Still, after a moment, Diavolos catches his breath long enough to roll onto his back and he gathers her up so that she is laying across his chest. “I love you,” he whispers into her hair, his arms tight around her.

“I love you,” she tells him and then twists so she’s facing him, “and that is why I married you because no one else has ever been able to make me feel like that and no one else ever will. I am yours, Diavolos, mind, body, and soul and I always will be.”

“And I am yours,” he promises her, love and devotion written all over his handsome face, “I’m sorry I let myself get bothered by idle speculation.” He grins, that smug, irresistible grin that she loves so much, “though, not that sorry, given how you proved your devotion. In fact, I think I’ll need another demonstration.”

Kenna rolls her eyes. “Uh huh.” But she’s smiling as she leans in and presses her lips to his, content in her love for him and his for hers. They belong to each other and they always will.
