Drunk Minds Speak Sober Thoughts

Note: This is for @blackcatkita‘s Margarita Drabble Challenge. Although I like both Jaime and Aubrey in Wishful Thinking, and I know only about five people in the fandom like Aubrey, I thought this would be more fun with him since he doesn’t know about MC’s ability yet. His thoughts are in italics in parentheses.

“Thanks for coming out with me to watch Tony.” Dylan takes a sip of her margarita. “I’m sure he appreciates any support he can get.”

“Hey, after our date at the fair today, I was already looking for an excuse to hang out with you again. And Tony is actually pretty good, which I can’t say for some of the others.” Aubrey throws down a couple dollars for a tip after the bartender hands him another IPA.

Dylan laughs. “Why do you think I’m on my third margarita already?”

“I’m kind of surprised you you chose a classic on the rocks over some fruity variety.”

“What can I say? I’m a simple girl with classic taste.”

(You are anything but simple, Dylan) “I can appreciate that.”

“Let’s make a toast.” Dylan raises a glass. “To new beginnings and next steps.”

Aubrey smiles softly. “I’ll drink to that.” He clinks his beer bottle to her glass. Dylan licks a spot of salt off the rim of her glass before swallowing her drink down and catches Aubrey watching her. (If only she would lick my- oh my God Aubrey, you’ve only just kissed her for the first time. Get your mind out of the gutter).

Dylan tries to hold back a smirk. Even his “dirty” thoughts are adorable. She wouldn’t have minded if he’d finished that sentence because she’s thought worse about him, and after almost three margaritas she’d be down for a whole lot more than just kissing. She looks down at her drink and back up at him, a devilish idea playing in her mind. She slowly licks the rim of her glass, purposefully seductive this time, and never breaks eye contact with him.

Audrey’s cheeks blush bright red, and he coughs as he averts his gaze. She can’t hear his thoughts this time, but it’s probably best for his sake. She’s horrible for teasing him like that, but he’s so cute and sweet she just can’t resist. When he looks back to her his brow furrows. You have a little salt, right there.” He points to the left corner of her mouth. (I’d happily clean that up for you).

“Can you get it for me?” She asks in an innocent tone with not so innocent intentions. She leans in close, and he gets exactly what she means. He closes the distance, capturing her mouth with his, tracing his over her lips. She parts her lips, his tongue sliding past hers and tasting of salt and hopps.

When they finally part to catch their breath, Aubrey’s got a huge grin on his face. “Wow, Dylan, it’s like you read my mind.

If he only knew.
