Are You Happy? – Colt x MC

Summary: The morning after eloping in Vegas, Colt has questions for Ellie.

Notes: This fluffy little drabble takes place the morning after Take Me to Church and is for @desireepow-1986 for her birthday. Happy birthday, doll! Thank you for all the love and support and I hope you have a wonderful birthday.

The sun crept in through the windows of their hotel room, replacing the glittering Las Vegas strip with the early morning glow of pre-dawn light. Ellie shifted beneath the sheets and opened her eyes, wishing they’d remembered to close the curtains before they’d fallen asleep. Now though, her limbs ached with pleasurable exhaustion and she felt like she couldn’t have climbed out of the bed if she tried.

Ellie turned to look at Colt lying beside her, his face peaceful in a way it rarely was when he was awake. She smiled and leaned over to softly kiss his forehead. He stirred slightly and his eyelashes fluttered open, blinking as he focused his gaze on her and smiled.

“Hey, Mrs. Kaneko,” he said, voice gravelly with sleep.

“Hey, Mr. Wheeler,” Ellie said. His smile grew wider as he wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her closer. She brushed her fingertips across his cheek as she leaned in to kiss him, a slow, easy kiss that said they had a whole lifetime of kisses ahead of them.

“Are you happy?” he asked.

“Extremely,” she said as she nestled against him. “Why, do I not seem happy?”

“No, you do,” Colt said. “I just…wanted to make sure you weren’t regretting eloping.”

“I told you last night,” Ellie said. “I care more about what comes after, not the actual day.”

Colt brushed the hair back from her face, the callouses on his fingers a rough contrast to her soft skin. “I should’ve taken you to the real Paris, not the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas.”

“So then we’ll go to Paris,” Ellie said with a shrug. “It’s not going anywhere.”

“You just…I don’t know, you deserve so much more. I just want to make sure you’re not missing out on anything.”

“I have you and me,” Ellie said. “What else could I be missing?”

“But—“

“Colt—are you happy?”

He smiled warmly at her. “Extremely.”

“Good. Me, too.”

She kissed him and as he sank into her embrace, Colt didn’t have any more questions.
