Delivery

“Oh, oh, oooooooh!” Aurora cried out, bent over with her hands gripping the desk in front of her for support. Damien let out a snicker behind her.

“What are you laughing at?” She snapped, “You’re the one doing this to me.”

“Well that’s not true.”

“Oh yeah?” She turned around and tugged on her hospital gown to better show off her swollen stomach. “Was this an immaculate conception then? Oh, my Abuela will be so pleased!”

“Okay so, I helped.” He conceded with a smirk, “But I know for a fact that I wasn’t the only one involved…”

“Fine, it was both of us.” Aurora began pacing, taking deep breaths in between sentences, “But the amount of pain is your fault, this demon spawn definitelyhas your big head.”

My big head? I’m pretty sure you’re the one with—” She whirled on him with a  withering glare. “…With the tough job ahead of her. And I, as your adoring husband, will do everything in my power to make this experience go a smoothly as possible.” He gave her a quick kiss on the top of her head as he handed her a cup filled with ice chips.

“Nice save.” Her teasing smile dropped quickly as she let out another cry. “Fuck, it hurts!”

Damien sped over and grabbed her hand, leading her over to the bed. Her contractions were getting closer together, it had only been a couple minutes between the last one.

“I’m going to get a nurse.” He said, gently helping her lay down and lift her legs onto the mattress, “I think this kid is sick of listening to us and wants to get the hell out.”

Aurora nodded and worked on the deep breathing exercises she had been taught as she waited for him to get back in the room.

“Okay I found our nurse, she’s getting the doctor for us. It’s just going to be a few more minutes.”

“God FUCKING DAMMIT! Get this parasite out of me now!”

“You’re going to be a great mom.” Damien said with a teasing smile.

Aurora started laughing through the pain, “Oh, screw you.”

“I’m pretty sure that’s what got us into this mess in the first place.” Damien looked at her, red faced and sweaty hair plastered to her face, with nothing short of reverence. He reached forward and brushed one of those sweaty strands of hair away, leaving his hand lingering on her face. “I love you so much, you know that right?”

“Yeah, yeah, I know,” She rolled her eyes but couldn’t keep the grin off her face. “I love you, too.”

The sound of the hospital room door opening pulled them both out of the moment and they looked in the direction of the entering doctor.

“Alright!” She said, positioning herself in front of Aurora. “Are you both ready to become new parents?”

“Stay with me?” Aurora asked with a squeeze of her hand, her nerves beginning to show on her face.

Damien squeezed back and pressed a kiss to her temple. “Always.”

Later, too much later, Damien and Aurora lay cuddled up on the two small hospital bed, holding their newborn baby daughter.

“What do you think?” She asked with a tired smile, “Should we name her Alana?”

“Funny. I bet she would love that.”

“Okay but I would like to name her after someone who’s important to both of us. So how do you feel about calling her Dipper?”

“I… I won’t even dignify that one with a response.”

Fine, Aurora Jr.?”

“At this point I’m not sure if it’s the exhaustion or if you’re just actually this bad choosing names.”

“Okay, okay, I’ve got a real one this time.” Damien raised an eyebrow as she blinked up innocently at him. “Really! Now just picture this… Damienne!

He burst out laughing, “Jesus, Rory.”

“What? It’s classy!” She shot him a wink and he shook his head.

“Our daughter has no idea what she’s in for having us for parents.” Damien hugged his two girls closer to him, wondering how he got so lucky.

“…Damora?”

“You are officially relieved of baby naming duties.”
