First Kiss (Colt x MC)

Summary: MC (Ellie) has her first kiss with Colt.

Notes: This is a revised diamond scene from Chapter 9 when Ellie and Colt go to ocean. I’m building off my previous Colt fic, Jealous, so Ellie has already told Colt that she and Logan are not together. I used some of the original dialogue from PB, but then I embellished like a bedazzler.

Ellie wrapped her arms around Colt’s waist as they sped down the highway. When he’d announced he was leaving to go for a drive, she was surprised he’d asked her to come along. It felt like they’d barely spoken since that night in her car after they’d followed Kaneko and she’d wondered if he regretted what happened between them. Not that it was much; holding hands wasn’t exactly earth-shattering. But, if she was honest, it’d felt like that for her. Ellie knew she was inexperienced–hell, she hadn’t even had her first kiss yet–but there was something about Colt that made her feel like everything was significant.

“You okay back there?” Colt called over his shoulder, raising his voice to be heard over the bike’s engine. “I didn’t lose you, did I?”

“You’re not getting rid of me that easily.”

Colt laughed and revved the engine, kicking back into a wheelie before racing ahead. Ellie’s heart pounded and she grabbed on more tightly to keep from falling. The last thing she wanted was to go falling off the back of his bike. She might be inexperienced in many things, but even she knew that road rash was decidedly unsexy. As they continued on down the road, she rested her head against his shoulder. The smell of the sea was thick in the air, mingling with the slight scent of his leather jacket. Even with the helmet on, Ellie could feel Colt’s relaxed breathing. She closed her eyes and for a moment, it felt like nothing else existed but the two of them and the open road.

Soon, Colt slowed the bike and pulled off onto a secluded cliff overlooking the ocean. As he turned off the engine, Ellie pulled off her helmet and climbed off the bike, surveying the view.

“Wow, good find,” she said. The ocean looked like it went on forever and the setting sun painted dazzling colors across the water. Colt took her helmet and set it on the bike with his before joining her near the cliff’s edge.

“It’s all right,” he said nonchalantly. Ellie glanced over at him, a bubble of frustration threatening to burst the beauty of the moment.

“You know, you don’t have to downplay everything,” she said, turning her gaze back out towards the water. “Sometimes, it’s okay if something just takes your breath away.”

“Noted.”

Ellie looked back towards him and was surprised to find him staring at her. She felt her cheeks flush and she coughed awkwardly, looking away from him.

“So, um, how’d you find this place anyway?” she asked, trying to regain her composure.

“My pop brought me here when I was a kid. He’d make me jump off the cliff into the water,” Colt said. Ellie leaned forward, craning her neck to peek over the edge.

“That’s a long way down, especially for a kid.”

Colt shrugged. “I think he was trying to teach me something,” he said contemplatively. “Courage? Trust? I dunno, I was just a scared kid flying through the air. But I guess maybe it worked, because ever since then, whenever I need a place to be at peace, I come here.”

“Well…” Ellie said, an idea sparking within her. “We didn’t just come up here to stare, right?”

Colt turned to look at her, shocked. “You wanna jump? Seriously?”

Ellie pulled her shirt off over her head and didn’t miss Colt suck in a sharp breath at the sight of her exposed skin. She felt a small thrill at his appreciation of her and she let it fuel her.

“Seriously,” she said, tugging off her jeans. “The real question is, am I jumping alone?”

Colt grinned and removed his own clothes, tossing them onto the ground beside hers as he stood in his boxer briefs. Ellie let her eyes linger on the cut muscles of his abdomen, the sharp v-shape pointing lower, before pulling her eyes back up to the task at hand.

“I know what I’m in for,” he said with a smirk. “Do you?”

“Only one way to find out,” Ellie said with a grin. “On the count of three. One…two…three!”

Colt and Ellie sprinted towards the edge and, right as they jumped, he reached out and grabbed her hand. She held it tightly as they launched into the air, momentarily weightless before they started to speed towards the ocean. She screamed as they fell and Colt laughed, squeezing her hand. A moment later, they crashed into the water. The cool water was a shock, momentarily stilling her before she began to swim up. When she and Colt broke through the surface, she realized she was still tightly holding his hand. She loosened her grip a little, in case he wanted to let go, but instead he squeezed her fingers in his.

“Man…I’d almost forgotten what it felt like,” he said, pushing his hair back with his free hand and brushing the water off his face.

“Does that mean you’re done downplaying everything?” Ellie teased. She expected him to say something sarcastic in reply, but instead he just looked at her. Despite the cold water, she felt warm under the intensity of his gaze. Ellie leaned towards him and he met her halfway, falling into her as their lips crashed together. She’d often wondered what her first kiss would be like and, despite Riya’s assurances that it would be fine, Ellie had worried she wouldn’t know what to do. But as she kissed Colt, Ellie wasn’t thinking about anything other than how good his lips felt on hers as he pulled her closer.

Finally, Colt pulled away. “You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to do that.”

“How long?” Ellie asked curious. The sun was dipping below the water now, but she could still see the blush on his cheeks.

“Since the sideshow,” he admitted.

“When you told me I was in the wrong place?” Ellie asked, one eyebrow raised. “And asked if I was lost?”

Colt rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. “Admittedly, I’m not good with opening lines…but in my defense, you were wearing a preppy college sweatshirt to a sideshow. And you really did look lost.”

Ellie splashed him and Colt laughed, shielding his eyes from the water.

“So that’s how you decided to show you were interested in me? By being a dick?” she asked.

“Hey, I’m sorry about that,” Colt said, reaching for her in the water. She let him pull her closer as they floated in the gentle waves. “I saw you there, dancing…with Logan…and when I realized he was with the crew, it seemed better to stay away from you.”

“But I was never with Logan,” she pointed out.

“We should probably get out of the water, it’s getting colder,” Colt said, changing the subject. He took off swimming for the shore and Ellie followed, gliding through the water behind him. Colt pulled himself up onto a rock and turned around to offer her a hand. She let him help her and he started to stand, but she stopped him, putting a hand on his arm.

“You believe me that I was never with Logan…right?” she asked. Colt sighed and ran a hand through his hair.

“I want to, but…look, I saw you dancing with him at the sideshow. You guys looked like you were together. And you spend a lot of time with each other.”

“Because we’re friends,” Ellie said, emphasizing the last word.

“I don’t dance like that with my friends,” Colt said lightly, forcing a smile. Ellie didn’t miss that he failed to meet her gaze. She took a deep breath.

“Colt,” she said. “I spend a lot of time with Logan, but it’s not like that. At least, it’s not like that for me. I’m not gonna lie, there were times when we could’ve become more than friends, but it didn’t feel right to me.” She swallowed, digging deep within her to find the courage for what she wanted to say next. “I haven’t been able to get you out of my head since we met and Logan’s a good friend, but I didn’t want to waste my first kiss on him when I’m interested in someone else.”

Colt turned to look at her, surprised. “Your first…what?”

Ellie sighed exasperatedly, already regretting that she’d said anything about it. “Yes, I know, I’m sheltered and naive and what I said sounded stupid. I–”

He silenced her by leaning in and kissing her gently, cupping her face with his hands. She wanted to be mad but she melted under his touch, lightly covering his hands with her own.

“It’s not stupid,” he said quietly, resting his forehead against hers. “I…I’m really honored you picked me. I’m just sorry I ruined it by being insecure.”

“You didn’t ruin it,” Ellie said softly as she laced her fingers between his. She smiled, pulling back just enough to meet his gaze. “But you might if you don’t keep kissing me.”

Colt grinned and leaned in, his lips momentarily meeting hers.

“One more thing though.”

Ellie groaned exaggeratedly and dropped her forehead to his shoulder, making him laugh.

“Seriously, this is the last thing,” he said. Ellie picked up her head and looked at him. The sun was almost completely below the horizon but she could still see him clearly as her eyes adjusted to the darkening light. “I’m not very good at saying how I feel, but…look, I don’t know what it is about you, but I feel like I’ve been waiting for you. I don’t know why you want to hang around lowlifes like us when you have everything going for you and I know this is selfish, but, god, I hope you never stop.”

Ellie pulled him to her and, finally, they were done talking.

Later, after they’d climbed back up to the top of the cliff and redressed, Colt handed Ellie a helmet and they settled back on his bike. She wrapped her arms around his waist and before he started the motorcycle, Colt lifted one of her hands to his lips and kissed her palm. She smiled against the back of his t-shirt and tightened her hold on him, warmed by the leather jacket she now wore. Colt started the bike and they rode back down the dark highway, together.

  1. Oh my gosh I loved this so much! I loved that Colt.was her first kiss and she just blurted it out like that. And his reaction! Aaaah and the “I feel like I’ve been waiting for you” line was amazing.

    1. Thank you so much! I love writing them and I’m looking forward to writing more Colt in the future. I’m toying with a few ideas so hopefully I can have something up soon!
