Out the Door (Zig x MC)

Summary: As MC (Lydia) tries to hurry out of their apartment so she isn’t late for Abbie’s bachelorette party, Zig momentarily takes her breath away.

Zig glanced up from the couch as Lydia burst out of the bedroom in a short black lacy dress, her wallet in one hand and a stiletto in the other. He watched with bemusement as she attempted to put the shoe on while hopping towards the front door on her other foot.

Gatita, that doesn’t look safe,” Zig said as he cautiously got to his feet to follow her. As if on cue, Lydia lost her balance and Zig leaped forward to catch her around the waist just in time before she crashed on the floor.

“Thanks,” she said, still trying to put on the shoe.

“Seriously, you need to slow down a little,” he said. “You’re not going to be able to enjoy Abbie’s bachelorette party if I have to take you to the hospital because you got a concussion.”

“I know, I know, you’re right,” Lydia said as she straightened up and leaned against the wall for stability so she could successfully secure her foot in the stiletto. “But I planned this whole thing, I can’t be late.”

“What are you guys doing tonight anyway?” Zig asked as he surveyed her heels up to her short black dress. “Because you look incredible.”

Lydia allowed herself a smile as she rifled through her wallet, pushing past a backlog of crumpled receipts.

“Sisterhood secret,” she said, flicking her eyes up at him long enough to throw him a wink. “I could never reveal what goes on at a bachelorette party. Why, what are you guys doing for Tyler? And,” she glanced at her watch, “don’t you need to get ready?”

“I am ready,” Zig said as he glanced down at his white t-shirt, jeans, and Converse sneakers. Lydia stopped what she was doing and surveyed him.

“That is so unfair,” she said. “All you have to do is throw on a leather jacket and you look incredibly sexy and cool, whereas I have to spend ages in front of a mirror painting on a brand new face before squeezing my feet into torture devices shaped like shoes.”

“Hey,” Zig said, circling his arms around her waist. “I happen to think you look amazing and sexy all the time no matter what you’re wearing. And I’m pretty partial to your original face.”

Lydia laughed and caught his chin between her thumb and forefinger, pulling him in for a kiss.

“I love you,” she said.

“I love you, too,” Zig said. He kissed her again, lengthening out the kiss as his lips melted over hers. Zig could feel the tension in her shoulders relax as they kissed, her arms wrapping around his neck to pull him closer. He trailed his fingers down over her hip to the bottom hem of her dress, tracing his fingertips along where the lacy edge met her skin.

“You should probably get going,” he murmured in her ear.

“For what?” Lydia breathed, momentarily confused. Zig grinned.

“Abbie’s bachelorette party?”

“Oh, shit!” she exclaimed, her memory slamming back into focus. “Right, okay. I’ll see you later,” Lydia said as she gave him one more brief kiss before reluctantly breaking away to head for the front door.

“Hey,” Zig said just as she’d opened the door. Lydia glanced back over her shoulder. “Make sure you keep those shoes on later.”

“Are you kidding me? I’m probably going to be unable to walk in about an hour,” Lydia joked. Zig’s trademark smirk played across his lips.

“Who said you’re going to have to stand in them?”
